Yeah, I’ve changed my tune on him recently. Is he good enough long term? I have no idea since he’s only just starting to add goals, and I’m still not sure he actually have the class to sustain it. Players go on 2 month runs all the time and then fall off the face of the earth. Hopefully he’s the real deal and just now blossoming.

You realize we’re talking about why he kept getting games during the Koeman and Sam years right? Comparing Dom 2 years ago to Niasse and Tosun...our options were horrific. No one is saying he hasn’t improved.

Its a problem I think, we have 3 very decent young Strikers, all 3 can go either way and all 3 are showing vast improvement, but none of are "proven" for me, theres still some question marks, less so in the case of Rico, but they are there.

If we get Europa we will certainly need more than 3 Strikers, aint nobody wants to keep Niasse or Tosun so I do wonder what type Brands will target, its a tough call for sure. You dont want to stifle their potential, but you dont want to leave us short up top.

Lukaku was s class striker and a complete cock.

Dom seems to be developing into a quality premier league striker and seems to be a top bloke and teammate.

I've been one of his biggest detractors but he isn't a weak point of the team right now unlike what I've thought of him in seasons past.

He just needs to maintain some consistency in front of goal and he appears to have that at the moment.

I wouldn't say no to that either but think DCL is going to be a better player 'all round' than Lukaku. (Might not be as prolific in front of goal but overall contribution to the team)

Amazing how Rom delivered the goods for year after year yet was criticised by some yet DCL runs around alot and scores a few goals in the space of about 1 month with the rest of his 2 years or so here underwhelming yet is suddenly the real deal - only Evertonians.

Rom was our top goal scorer. DCL IS our top goal scorer so far. could we leave it at that?

Not many Strikers in this league can play 9 on their own and play it well, struggling to think of any teams that play a lone 9 anymore to be honest.

Carroll is about the only guy that can, and he's available about as often as an F-14. Perpetually in the shop for repairs.

You have to be a true target man that can hack hold-up play, and that's an endangered species as you point out. Mueller and Lewandowski are the new model; sneak into space and execute a smash-and-grab. My sense is that with the premium on scoring from set pieces and shortage of quality at the position, the big guys are becoming CBs at a younger age rather than 9's.
