TBF he was probably ready a few years ago, but the tactics of one up front every season for about five years combined with some absolutely awful management made him (and others) look a lot worse than they are.

I almost don't want to believe that that's true, as thinking of the horrors we could have avoided makes me wince.

But it probably is. If only one of our managers had had the stones to bin off 4-2-3-1 earlier.

There is a degree of that, but also, Gylfi isnt the most mobile, perhaps support from a more mobile midfield would have helped.

Biggest thing for me is how he now LOOKS like a goalscorer. Even though he missed a few chances at arsenal, he was making the sort of runs you want your centre forward to make.

He's got everything you want in a centre forward. Strength, pace, aerial ability, good first touch, decent passer of the ball, works hard for the team, and now he's added goals to it.

If he keeps this up and maybe adds that fractional difference that would've seen him get another 1 or 2 goals at arsenal he can be a very good player. Skies the limit for this lad.

The threads full of people moving the goalposts regarding DCL, but if anything this just shows how much he's improved this season.

He’s not a natural finisher so he’s going to have to work hard to get goals his whole career.

His strengths are his work rate, athleticism, strength and has decent height. He already gets a good amount of goals, can you imagine if he was a natural finisher?...

What is a “natural finisher”? Loads of people regard someone like Defoe as a natural finisher, yet he rarely posted numbers as good as DCL’s this season.
