I think as much as physically mentally it must be a nightmare playing in front of them , starved of real service . Making runs to see the ball fly out or more likely end up chasing back to your own box because they lost position .

in no way is it a free pass but that midfield would break anyone’s heart

Agreed. He has not been good enough when he has had the ball. NO free pass from me either, but you can see its a thankless task playing that roll.

We could have any striker in the world playin the 9 and they would look poor.

They rotate the front line....and had lost 2 in a row before us....and have a midfield that brings forwards into play.
I’m not going to look at stats or anything, but there are plenty of players that have more than DCL this season. We’ve been knocked out of cups and have no European commitments. I mean that lot across the park seem to be doing ok. Being tired is a poor excuse. They even had a Xmas break this year and then a COVID break

He has come on leaps and bounds this year, when he has a midfield behind him we can make final judgements. Until then he isn't the problem.

He has the same midfield behind him as Richarlison does?
I think he's improved immensely but is still way behind the level of strikers that would put us into European places. We can definitely persist with him and see how much more he develops but there's nothing to say he will all of a sudden be able to fix the areas of the game he is lacking such as shooting ability. Its a gamble

I dont think Richarlison has been good enough either. He is a much better player so uses his chances better than Dom.

Although they both play up-top, they do very different things.

None of our players have been good enough this season.

I doubt Dom is the prolific striker thats needed even with a proper midfield that creates chances per game. He just doesn’t have the composure in front of goal to hit 20+ a season. Still a very useful squad member.

Very much this. He has gave us a potential problem solve but its far from done. By no means a natural.

He was miles better than Richarlison yesterday. Our only two real chances came from Dom breaking the back line and hitting a shot on target and doing very well to get a clean header on target. Richarlison spent the game sulking. In fairness who can blame either of them, it's an impossible task to play infront of that midfield, you can see them for the first 30 mins making runs every time the midfield get it, and then to have to check when the midfielder inevitably plays it square or backwards. Then they're chasing lost causes every now and again. Yesterday at one point Dom got the ball and tried to play a quick 1-2 with Richarlison who was just standing there sulking. Wolves played a fairly high line at times, and Everton had the pace on them but only once played that ball in.

There are far worse problems at the club than DCL at the minute. Every available penny should be invested in the midfield this Summer, that would solve a lot of the issues the team has.
