He clearly works incredibly hard in training, his improvement year on year is testament to that. I’ve always said he’d be a decent lower premier league striker but he’s certainly proving me wrong. He’s not one to pick the ball up deep, run at defenders and curl one into the far corner, but if he keeps up his threat in the box then I’m more than happy for him to lead our line.

Lineker scored most of his goals from 12yds or less and he contributed very little to many games but he was a boss slotter and seemed to do OK. DCL has plenty still to learn but his progress this last 12 months has been terrific. He seems the type to want to continue learning so I'm confident that he will be a top striker, scorer of goals and all round good player in a couple of years.

I actually went back and watched some of Lineker's goals on YT recently. The perception of him as just a 'tap in merchant' is actually unfair as he was a great finisher with brilliant instincts. Also, recommend his and Danny Bakers' book on audible as it was really funny with lots of interesting/amusing footy anecdotes!

I agree in that Lineker washy just a tap in merchant, he had natural instincts as to where to be, however I'd rather crap in my hands and clap than listen t Danny Baker

Yeah, I did make the mistake of buying Baker's autobiography (well one of them) on the back of the footie book and went and blummin overdosed on him! Still, the footie book was very good IMO!
