Every football “expert” outside GOT is raving about him
His hold up okay his physical bullying his awareness of where to be and when and his one touch brilliance in finishing ... even my red mates call him a star
Only some “experts “ on GOT are putting him down .... but they always have and there’s no value in admitting you’re wrong ..... is there ?

It's a big shout, and obviously only time will tell.

If Calvert-Lewin outscores Kane this season, it'll mean he's had an incredible showing. Even if you boil it down to just pure goalscoring, you could probably count on one hand the number of strikers with better records than Kane (144 in 210 PL games).

I don't mean to detract from Calvert-Lewin, by the way. I couldn't be more impressed with how much his work inside the penalty box has improved.

I think he will score more goals, in open play in the PL this season.

to be honest he still has a long way to go if you compare him to players like shearer, van nistelroy, Kane, Drogba. Not a star yet mate. These players could score goals inside and outside of the box at will. Finishing at another level. DCL is looking good at the moment and hope he can continue to improve his all round game.

Tap in merchant :)
Lineker scored most of his goals from 12yds or less and he contributed very little to many games but he was a boss slotter and seemed to do OK. DCL has plenty still to learn but his progress this last 12 months has been terrific. He seems the type to want to continue learning so I'm confident that he will be a top striker, scorer of goals and all round good player in a couple of years.

agree. Highlight of the last few weeks has him scoring and people still trying to slate him on here. Long may it continue

He's not the new Kane, or the new Lineker he's the first DCL. Proving hard work can pay off but he wouldn't normally have been given 3 season to work on his game in the first team, events have fallen favourably to Dom and he's taken his chance.

It's a shame people and that's managers as well as fans aren't more patient as I think you'd see a lot more success stories from the academy if they were given the time to develop correctly. Some break through at 16 but they're few and far between and people want things here and now.

Pretty sure Van Nistelroy was famous for never scoring from outside the box while at Utd. But yes, a long way to go to reach the level of one of the greatest strikers the prem has ever seen.
Drogba was 26 when he came to Chelsea and scored 16 goals in each of his first 2 seasons.

I think our perspective is distorted as we're spoiled by the likes of Messi, both Ronaldos, Rooney, Raul and Mbappe. Players who are ripping it up in top flight and international football as teenagers. They really are exceptions even among the legends of football.

Most players don't reach their peak until their mid twenties and with big strikers, it's often their late twenties.

As you say, Dom is going well at the moment. With one of the best managers around I've no doubt he'll continue to develop his all round game.

People six to twelve months ago criticised him for not being a goalscorer and not having the instinct to get in the box and score goals.

He now does this and people criticise him for not doing enough outside the box.

Can't win.

The lad is clearly playing to instruction. With Allan and Doucoure we now have the legs in midfield to allow DCL to attack the box earlier, so the goals are the net result. It's not a coincidence - I've been critical of him but it's now pretty much abundantly clear that the lad is a very, very good Premier League level striker.

All of the great strikers were winners. Lukaku scoring the last 2 goals in a 5-0 rout in a semi final and putting the ball into his own net to lose the final encapsulates everything about him as a player. Drogba had nowhere near his strike rate but will be remembered as one of the PL's great strikers because of his application and all round contribution to the teams he played on. Lukaku will be swiftly forgotten.

shearer only won a single medal , lineker? Le tissier ? Did hasslebaink win much ? He was quality
