Like you I never seen it in him mate.
I constantly said he isnt aware enough to be a regular top scorer.
But I will say the lad has gone away and worked on his game , that can only be from Carlo & Dunc.
Fair play to the lad , never once did I want him to fail and hope he keeps it up.
Would I have traded him in 12 months ago ....absolutely . Now ....not a chance.

Oh definitely mate. He's playing - well, he's scoring - seriously well at the moment in front of an amazing attacking unit. Full credit to the bloke.

Side note.
My lad who has kept faith with him since his World Cup winning goal keeps telling me to keep up saying Dom is sh---te as he usually scores just when I say it.
Its become a regular habit now lol
 
Took his goal well. Had a pretty good debut for England overall and what I was happy about is that he didn't over-exert himself.

Last season he used to get through so much work, chasing sometimes errant balls that he was knackered when an opportunity did arise or seemed to lack the composure when he had a good chance. He seemed to be managing his energy exploits better if there's such a thing.

I can’t think of another where he actually got his laces through the ball. Those two this last game where he took some pot shots that flew wide actually gave me hope, as they were clean hits even if not on target.

....he’s on a hot scoring streak but I agree, there’s lots to improve upon.

I‘m sure there’ll be plenty of sitters missed and barren spells around the corner, we all have to be prepared for that. Regardless, he’s the type that will always contribute to the cause, the type his teammates appreciate.

i still think there’s a concentration of effort to get on the end of a pass, whereas a goalscorers concentration is on converting the ball. We saw it at Palace when he did well to get on the end of a Rodriguez corner but not the control and composure to finish.

114 games, 24 goals. So he's definitely improved - we're all pleased - but does still make this feel like a bit of a purple patch. A good purple patch nevertheless.

It’s not the reality though is it.

in 18/19 he was sub in 16 of those games and over the season averaged 50 mins per game. So he played little over a half a game on average. And how many of those did he play as an out and out striker?

In 17/18, 14 of those were as a sub. Averaged 58 mins a game. Again didn’t really play as a striker. Interestingly as well as those 4 goals he got 6 assists. For comparison, in the same season Zaha got 9 goals and 3 assists from 28 starts in which he played the full game. He averaged 90 mins that season. If DCL had maintained his ratio and played the same amount of minutes as Zaha he would have had 5 goals and 8 assists in 28 games. With the 6 assists he actually got that year he had the most assists in the squad that year.

His output has always been pretty good to be honest.

Totally agree with you. Just recently saw what utter BS the likes of Bruno Fernandes and Harry Maguire posted on their instagrams after the beating they took from Spurs. Both of them intensely staring at the horizon with some nonsense captions going something like: "We are disappointed with the result, it's not what we expected. But we promise our fans we'll regroup and come back better... blah blah blah." The fk they are. Those are two of the best players at the self-dubbed 'biggest club in the world' and they come off as so weak-minded and entitled that it's not even funny anymore.
As you say, it's great to have a manager as Carlo with us who seems to be able to motivate players the right way, to tell 'em straight where they are still lacking and who understands the game and his players enough how to best employ them. And it's refreshing to see someone on a paycheck we can only dream about (as DCL presumably is), in a world where it's seemingly enough to have a bit of talent and show it every once in a while and spending the rest of the time making empty promises and promoting ugly clothing lines on the social media, taking it to heart and pushing to improve and earn his spot!

‘I was right/you were wrong about DCL’ thread so we can just talk about how he’s playing and performing now in here?

I know you all thought he would be shipped out and replaced by Johnny Lazarus a 20 goal extraordinare from Senegal who scored goals that look good on YouTube..... A 3 club Champions League manager saw fit to not only replace a midfield and get rid of forwards but to maintain that DCL is a potentially elite level striker...... You don't know naff all about the game and fortunately for us the only thing you have to do with Everton is not reflected on the pitch.

Enjoy having a top striker who wants to play for us. Try not to obsess too much over him..... It could be a bit of repressed feelings towards him .... I know he's a crackin looking lad.... Let's face it with Gomes DCL and James in the side I'm finding my heterosexuality being questioned but if you tell yourself it's ok then you may find that you focus on their football ability
