Whereas in reality it was:

114 games, 24 goals. So he's definitely improved - we're all pleased - but does still make this feel like a bit of a purple patch. A good purple patch nevertheless.

I think we all hope that he gets near this soon:

Those appearance numbers aren't all starts though, are they, so they don't tell the full story.

I'll stick to my numbers thanks.

Hopefully this will be a lesson on here to those who write off young Everton players as not being good enough.

Young players need time and space to develop. Just because they may go through a lean patch doesn't mean they are bad, just still learning the game.

Those that criticise other young players like Davies should first tell us what their opinion of DCL was twelve or eighteen months ago.
I was wrong about DCL. Still don’t like Davies to ever be a first 11 quality player. Have always supported Holgate, Rich at 21, think Kean has potential, Gordon looks to have a good future, etc. it’s not about youth. We all have opinions on players and we all get some wrong, including world class managers.

Different strikers, different times. Lukaku did a job for us when here but couldn't care less how lukaku is doing now. What matters is how DCL is doing now, and he is doing fantastic. He undoubtedly will have a/several dry spells, but he is well on course to push some good totals.

If Calvert Lewis carries on scoring on regular think basis think next transfer window we will see massive bid for him
and a bigger rejection from him. We are now at a stage where our kids need not go elsewhere if they are getting game time with us. One of the best managers ever, attracting top quality players, and playing decent logger. All this will further attract better players when we get euro footy again. If we pay them properly, I cant see why they would want to go apart from to satisfy a childhood desire to play for PSG

I think he should be credited for listening to Duncan and Ancelotti. They saw he had significant limitations in his game (passing, holding the ball up, basically anything outside of the box) and said to him "get in the box and hit it first time". He's really improved now that he's listened to them (and if I am humble , several of us on here) and is implementing these changes.

He's had an eyebrow raising start to the season.

Amazing .... I kinda recall us saying that he was developing and showing improvements all the time. Did you think that he wasn't being coached or that he was uncoachable.....

I'd hate to think that you bracketed him as being garbage because somehow you were led to believe that a 19/20 year old was the finished article.

I mean did you know David Beckham was playing for Preston at the age of 19/20? Now who would have thought that he must improved from age 20 to the player he became to go to Real Madrid.

Must have listened to the coaches I guess. How dare he trick those people who thought the player at Preston was the level he was gonna get to.
