DCLs current performances are more than good enough on their own, no need to try biggening him up with this. Scoring one game in the PL is more impressive than 10 in a youth cup. A lot of players who never make it because theyre not good enough scores in youth cups.
Weird arguments in here tonight. DCL is becoming what we all want him to be for us, a great striker with a really good attitude. We’ve all been frustrated by former performances, but I dont see the need to dirty him with those now. Hes doing very well and seems like a good dude. Nothing to dislike atm.
I reckon a new rule should be brought in by the prem, if a player scores it only gets added to their total if it was significant to the scoreline.

I'll concede there is a lot of wumming going on in this thread at the moment but I don't take those posts seriously and would suggest you do the same.
There's a group of around 30 posters on here that take a keen interest in our younger players, whether that be in the youth teams, out on loan, or with the first team.
We are all quite realistic as regards players capabilities and expectations and it's rare you'll see many go OTT about a players potential, although this Nkounkou lad we've just bought is one notable exception to this.
Usually we come to the defence of our young players not because we think they are stars in the making, but because it's wrong to criticise young players because they aren't as good as Wayne Rooney. We don't predict how good they are going to become, just believe that it's wrong to write them off to young whilst they're still developing.
As regards DCL most of us will be surprised how well he started the season. No way will we be smug at this early stage as he needs to show it over a sustained period of years rather than months
....Kane hits a ‘heavy ball’, it means he has goalscoring capability from outside the box but DCL has real power in his shooting.
There was a goal he scored for our U23s before he made his debut, I think it was against Man City when he struck a ‘hitch kick’ into the bottom corner from the edge of the area. I’m sure the clip is available for posting, but it demonstrates his shooting capability.
He doesn’t naturally have a picture of the goal and the goalkeeper, like a Lineker who invariably finish inside the post. He’s not that natural, he’s not that subtle but he’s physically superior to most defenders and he particularly has an edge aerially if he can exploit that skill.
Looks, personality and character he genuinely could be a poster boy for English football.

@Eggs i know the exact goal you’re talking about, but in honesty this is the exact area he has a lot of development to do still. The fact that you and I can remember it shows just how rare it was. I can’t think of another where he actually got his laces through the ball. Those two this last game where he took some pot shots that flew wide actually gave me hope, as they were clean hits even if not on target.
I’m far more hopeful he will add distance to his goals in the future than I was.... if he wants to be a rounded striker that is.
If he keeps up this form we’ll be in the upper regions of the league and I doubt there would be many clubs who could afford to buy him. Gone are the days when PL clubs just rolled over for the “top 4” teams and sold them their best players.

18/19 season - 8 goals in 22 x 90 mins.
19/20 season - 15 goals in 33 x 90 mins

114 games, 24 goals. So he's definitely improved - we're all pleased - but does still make this feel like a bit of a purple patch. A good purple patch nevertheless.

I think the one that always make me laugh is when people complain about "our young players getting abuse" and forget what they've said about Barkley, Lukaku and Stones while they were here, all very young men at the time.
But that's fine, we are here to say well done to DCL and long may it continue.

Made up for him always said give him time,but can't be doing with international football absolute dross always was patriotic can't be bothered anymore. Domestic football should be priority while this pandemic is going on ,international football just making things worse!
