We did yesterday and he only took the one. I don't mean that as a criticism of Dom, just that he is getting more than adequate service, imo.

Our problems are not at the attacking end of the pitch.

What chance did he miss?

By chance, I'm on about him getting into the box on the end of a good cross/cut-back, or played through on goal like Gyfli was.

We really do have issues attacking because we attack far too slowly at the moment. If you look at the second half of each game, we hardly create a thing.

There was a cross from Iwobi early on that he hit straight at Pope.

Hmm, not exactly a chance that a striker is going to thrive off.

He's not missing any 'good' opportunities, is he. The last one I can think of that he missed was against Newcastle, when he created a half-chance for himself on the turn and probably should have hit the target.

We don't create enough. We should be having 6-7 really good chances every game, and putting 2-3 of them away. We're stuck in a pretty crap place at the moment of not really being able to defend with any composure and having one route to goal

I'm sorry but this is a really big chance. I don't fault him for missing, they all can't go in, but it is still a miss.

Right, it's a good stop, he's had to stretch - as Nymzee has said - to even make contact. But fair enough, it's a chance. Not a sitter, and like you say you can't fault him as Pope makes a good stop.

But we should really create 4-5 of those for him every game. We have the quality to do it, we just don't play to their strengths enough.

Granted, Richarlison had an off day, and Iwobi is inconsistent, but still, I can't tell you how Everton build an attack. Our goal comes from probably the one bit of quick play we had in the first half other than that one you've linked. Our only real chance in the second comes from James' brilliance.

We never seem to build pressure. How often do you see us 30 yards from goal, with players making darts into the area and 3-4 bodies there, and sustain that for 5 minutes like teams manage to against us? Hardly ever?

Maybe it's what's needed to try and sure us up but frankly we don't do it when we concede a lot either.

Teams don't get 4 or 5 shots from that close per game. We've gotten two Saturday and, imo, that's a good effort.

I just don't think chance creation is an issue for us. DCL has 11 goals this season and none of them are further out than the penalty spot. The issues are up the other end.

There is no way anybody can look at how we build attacks at the moment and think it's adequate.
Rodriguez is the only player in the team with the ability to make a killer pass, much like Richarlison is the only one able to stretch defences. Throw in Digne being the single player who can dig out a cross from deep, and DCL being the only reliable finisher, and it becomes clear that the pre-derby team was a house of cards.

My one criticism of DCL's performance on Saturday was that he only worked the channel once - and with success - in a game where it was obvious that he wasn't going to see much action in between the posts.

I don't know how much freedom he has to deviate from the very specific role that Ancelotti appears to have given him, though.
