does he though? I don't think he does actually. I think he doesn't get involved at all and comes alive when the ball is in the box. Not that theirs anything wrong with that as he's scoring goals, but I think he needs to do more. He doesn't stretch teams anymore
DCL works incredibly hard for the team in defence and attack.
His role has changed because the way we play has changed. The number of times he wins frees for us from scraps when we are under pressure is incredible.

Missing the chance at the end doesn't bother me really, he should have done better but you'll always miss chances like that. I'm more bothered about the two chances he had in the first half to be honest, they were both very presentable opportunities and he didn't ever really look like scoring either of them. Not saying they were sitters or anything, they obviously weren't, but they were the sort of opportunity that might be the best sight of goal you get in some games and you have to do better than that. It's something he really needs to work on. Great that he got the goal though, and I actually thought first half he looked a lot livelier than he has recently.

I am a big Calvert Lewin defender (people may have noticed) but there probably had to be a bit of realism of what he is and isn't. I can only think of 1 chance in the 1st half (the one with the left foot). It was a tame "decent" effort but not the finish of a top striker. Ultimately he is not a very good ball striker, relative to his position. His shot is not massively powerful, particularly on his left. You see Moise Kean lash balls at the goal with real power, it's not a strength of DCL.

He's a very good finisher with his head. I don't think he's ever going to be a prolific finisher though in terms of his feet due to that technique. He's good at getting tap ins. Ancelotti has worked in his strengths.

He's great with his head, one of the best around, but it not headball. He needs massive improvement with the ball at his feet.

He just jogs around waiting for the ball to be put into his path on a plate, and we've seen over the past half a dozen games that's not happened so he's been totally anonymous.

Still think we need another CF alongside him who can do the things he cant do.

Danny Ings 12 months on his contract come the summer - sign him and play 2 up top and I think they would be a very good partnership.

I think Ings would be a smart buy with 12 months to go. He works hard and can play off the striker. He would be available at a heavily reduced price. I think he's a similar level overall to King though a different type of player. It's smart business.

His hold up, link up and being a general nuisance play is as good as it gets for a forward.
He’s now great at getting on the end of chances and I’d say more efforts are going in that not this season which is great.
But he’s never been a dribbler or creator and likely never will be.

I would say the player he’s most like is Giroud but faster and there is nothing wrong with that at all!

He has proven himself as a top-flight striker. As a fox in the box converting daisy cutter crosses or rising imperiously to convert swinging crosses with his head he excels. He has the physique and speed to run the channels and outmuscle defenders.

Problem is that one on one with the keeper and creating individual goals is not his forte and he lacks in that particular skill set. If he had these attributes top teams would be after him.

I think he's got a great attitude and seems thoroughly likable. I'm a big fan and really hope he will improve in these areas in the future.

The second one was when he ignored Richarlison and shot. I'm not sure not being able to shoot with your feet is an acceptable weakness in a top level striker personally. I think he's young enough and developing enough that it's something he can work on and get better at. If he doesn't then I think his career will start to flounder, because he can't just score from set pieces and nothing else if we're going to be successful. He has to add either the ability to score different goals or the ability to create more in the long run. I'm not having a go at him, as I say I believe he can do it, but I don't agree that we just shrug it off as one of them things.

absolutely nothing wrong with being a poacher, some of the best goal scorers ever to play were simply 6yard box poachers, it's a skill in itself that or everyone would be doing it. Just needs to bring in this one on one finishes because it lets him down a little. However it's nit picking because he is constantly improving.
