Hes missing the same amount as his peers.he does have potential, he works hard, his athleticism is off the charts, he positions well, but he needs to improve on his composure. he's missing sitters.
And hes way past the potential stage.

Neither of those players is a “ready made replacement” whatsoever, and one of them will never play another (competitive) match for us.

And hes way past the potential stage.
I was serious when I said in pre-season that I didn't believe he'd ever score 15 league goals, but he's almost certainly going to go comfortably beyond that. He's also become a genuinely good player in terms of his overall game, rather than simply being a battering ram against centre-backs that are terrified of a bit of physicality.
It's now just a case of finding the right alternative to come in and compete with him. There weren't loads of players going last summer who I really thought that Everton should have moved for, but Rodrigo on a free was one. It'd make a big difference having someone who can do things like make space with a drop of the shoulder, beat a man from a standing start and have a dig from long range.
I stand over all of that.Wrong with me? Here are some of your posts in this thread from December. You weirdly hate this player and seem like you can't wait for him to mess up.
I don't get that. He's a striker. They're supposed to score goals. In his first 11 games this season he scored 11. In his next 11 games he's scored 2. How is that "improving" in any sense of the word?Probably his best non goal scoring performance for a while that. His running with the ball has come on leaps and bounds
The development of Calvert Lewin has been insane really. I was always quite a big backer, but I didn't see his latest development. You kind of had 2 big jumps in his career, the first was after working with Duncan where he became a very good target man. He would win lots of headers, go to war, run channels, occupy defenders etc. Oddly enough, very much in the mould of a young Ferguson (probably quicker, but not as good technically). In honesty, I was happy with that. Had he shown that, I'd have been saying we probably have another 18 months from him and ideally look to upgrade once we get to the CL.
The next big jump though has been under Ancelotti. Like with a lot of players he has focussed him and optimised what he does, where he stands, the runs he makes etc. He still probably offers as much to the team without the ball (albeit in a more structured, less chaotic way) but he is now more Inzaghi than Ferguson. But Inzhagi who is probably 3 inches taller, with a much better leap and quicker.
I actually think now, at a top team he would score buckets of goals. Not neccesarily as he's the greatest finisher, but if the ball was in and around the opponents box a lot, his power, size, jump and positioning will mean just by statistics he will get so many chances. It might sound crazy, but I could honestly see him at a club like Bayern absolutely tearing up the Bundesliga and scoring an insane amount of goals. Defenders just wouldn't be able to handle him.
Yeah, the biggest surprise for me has been the improvement in terms of finesse. He was always a handful on his day, but now he's taking the ball in his stride while running at pace, and he seems to have a plan whenever he's bringing it down under pressure. The development of Calvert Lewin has been insane really. He had scored in 3 straight games then got injured in the cup, won the penalty against Liverpool coming on as sub then played well last night just without a goal.He needs a goal. Seems to have dried up

I know what you mean about him fitting the profile of a Bayern striker. It's difficult to know what his scoring record would be like outside of the Premier League, where hardly anyone hits more than 20 on a regular basis, but he does have the look of a Toni / Gomez at times. Lately, I've been thinking that he reminds me of Dzeko, too.
