His hold up play is brilliant.

But we need to start getting chances into him.

He's had one chance in the last three games and it was from a crap pass that deflected into his path. He should have done better but we know that he's a player that tends to snatch at chances if he's not getting a fair few (Sterling is exactly the same).

All boils down to the fact we don't create enough.

I have noticed recently that it has been less effective, not his fault, it seems opposing managers have got their best CB's on his case now and he is having less success that previously. Still class at it though

Yeah, not helped by no midfielders getting around him.

The one time we have done recently, Sigurdsson got onto it and played it through to Rich to score.

I have a theory: the more silly his hair looks the less effective he is on the field. Hope he can return to form real soon.

Yeah maybe on 12 April he gests his haircut we still have 7 games to the end of the season!
just hope he gets 20 to prove with stats that he has developed so much this season.

The things he has done in the past few games, hes done well. First touch is sublime, as is his hold up play.
Thing is, he's doing what James does and having to come deep to get the ball because the service is non existent. And let me reiterate that. I'm not saying the service is bad, it simply does not exist. There have been no crosses from either flank.
The midfield defaults to the backward pass far too often.

We have very much missed Davies.

Mental innit.

Gomes passes backwards. Allan still trying to get sharp.

Someone is going to have to explain the meaning of 'not getting the service' to me.
The way I see it is if he has a CB on his shoulder will a player lump it to him? If DCL doesn't win the dual the 'he is not getting the service'...if he wins the dual he is getting the service?

If a CB is on his shoulder then it is DCL job to shake him off and create space so service can be provided.
He had quite a few lumped up balls to him in the last couple of games but has been second best most of the time.
DCL has had to drop deeper for the ball but what he does with it is not really beneficial and just becomes a regular lay off.
He has to learn how to create space or find space then he will have a better chance of receiving service.
He has to help himself to help others. Just saying like.

Not getting the service means just that. He is not recieving the ball in a position for him to attack.

The crossing does not get past the 1st man from Iwobi. He seems to be the master of volleying the ball into opposition at evety opportunity and Digne was poor last night.

The lump up the pitch from Pickfords clearance comes fromback passes from the midfield who in turm have usually been given the ball by DCL dropping deep, against Ancelloti's instructions, to recover the ball.

There was a moment last night where DCL ended up chasing his own flick on from the half way line against 2 Chelsea cbs.

That would be my definition of no service

We quite literally aren't creating chances.

That's the table updated based on chances created. So, we've moved above Southampton and Palace (great).

We've created 33 'big chances', but converted over half of them (55%).

We have clinical strikers, when they get the service.

It's not surprising while our midfield signings were a step in the right direction it's not enough, Gomes doesn't create enough, Doucoure doesn't and Allan doesn't.
So it's left to two players in Digne in Rodriguez. A good RB and RM will hopefully change that next season, well it should.
