19 goals.

19.

The last player to get that for us was Lukaku.

But Evertonians don't actually like strikers who score goals. That's not enough. They've got to do everything else, and bang them in from 20 yards, and play incredible through balls.

The lad has 19 goals this season. That is a brilliant return.

He's become a poacher. Put him anywhere within 10 yards and he's more than likely hitting the target. Get him in 6 yards and he's gonna score.

You know what we should do then? Create more chances for him to put away.

But no, let's say he's crap and that we need better.

He had a really poor game and there's obvious work to be done with his first touch. It was abject tonight and that cost us.

I'm still going to go along with the idea our 19 goal striker has bailed us out at times though.

I guess all the players that have assisted him this season have also bailed us out then. Makes up a good chunk of the squad I'll bet.

His job is to help us win. He missed chances that meant we did not win. He did not do his job today.

Well, technically speaking, scoring one goal in a game wins it if no one else makes errors so did his job in that sense.

Him having to score a hat-trick for us to win against Burnley is a bad side for the whole team.

Agree with pretty much all this apart from the fact he was actually given very decent service today. He should have been walking off with the match ball.

I actually think a poacher has a better footballing brain than someone who might bang in a few from outside the box and regularly beat a defender to score a goal.

I'm only being ultra critical because I have such high expectations from him. Today was lesson of what he needs to work on but I will back him all day long to keep improving. The lad has a winning ethic and the drive that others lack. He shouldn't be happy with one goal today because hes far better than that.

Was he?

I mean, he had the one where the touch got away from him, but it's a long ball and we're expecting him to be perfect.

I really don't call that good service mate. Not when we know what his strengths are.

There was that header from the set-piece he stretched for, probably the only chance we created for him bar the goal which I'd count as 'good service'.

Why aren't we drilling balls into the six-yard box at every opportunity?

Well exactly. But some people seem to think he needs to become Harry Kane, who is a freak.

We've created the 15th lowest chances in the league. I keep banging on about it, but our conversion rate is still the best when it comes to 'big' opprotunities.

We just don't create enough of them.

We have a striker in the race for the golden boot and he's not scored a league goal from outside of about 12 yards out? Well, maybe let's figure out how to get him the ball inside 12 yards of the goal more, then.
