He wasn't crap yesterday he was just not in the game at all think it's a huge difference, We barely created anything apart from half chances and had to deal with two 6ft bodyguards as a lone striker all game but when the one chance came he scored from it so it's all good in the hood.
That's the midfield, I think we tired , and got pushed too far back in the 2nd half - they are not a bad unit ATM Palace .....

Probably many are becoming converted to the belief he might be a regular goal scorer. he gets into good positions and it is all happening for him. Long may it continue including his good fortune yesterday. If Pickford had let that goal in he would have been slaughtered on here. Good luck to DCL.

They pressed us well all game and didn't give us a second to think, Luckily a bit of magic from Rodriguez was the difference, McCarthy and McCarthur were just running around like mad men all game.

You only have to read the post, mate. I was essentially saying it didn't matter that he didn't hold the ball up well. It's not even a dig, let alone a sly one.

Of course I was a critic and I stand by it, because he wasn't scoring goals. Now he's scoring them I'm delighted with him. It's that simple and always has been.
His back to goal play was very good in the 2nd half mate ......he led the line brilliantly as our midfield were pushed back in the 2nd half ......

Fair enough. I thought he lost it a lot, but as I've said above, I also think it's one of the hardest things to do.

Do your worst, my friend.

Who's next?

Utterly horrible footballer. Completely useless as a striker.

Almost no redeeming qualities and an endless list of weaknesses.
This has to be the end for him. I'm sure he'll be dropped now, but it needs to be permanent until he leaves, as it has been with other players that have failed before him on this scale. He's lived the ultimate in charmed lives here. He's had no competition in 18 months. He's now relatively experienced for his not particularly tender age and all his excuses have been used up.
I've got no words.

One of the very worst I've ever seen play for us. One of the very, very worst.
I hope he builds a good career somewhere. I cannot for the life of me see it working out here and probably not the premier league.
Please just let this be the last time he starts.
I think he's pretty dreadful.

Disappointed that Silva seems to prefer him to Niasse.
It's like watching a centre half try and play as a striker.
Utterly horrific footballer as the left-footed shot and cross second half demonstrated, but no doubt useful against decent sides that try to play and that we can't keep the ball against.
"No service". He had two good chances. One he smashed straight at Adrian. Not the worst finish, but not good either. Then that utter travesty of an effort second half from the edge of the box.

Absolutely horrific.
I can't even bring myself to look back at the triumphalism in this thread when he scored a few goals out of embarrassment for everyone involved.
We need to stop buying Tosuns and Niasses and start spending our money wisely so we don't end up in the nightmare situation where Tom Davies and DCL are able to rack up 200 appearances for the club in a short period of time again.
DCL is nowhere near the quality of the strikers of the sides looking to finish in the top 6. He is poor compared to the first choice strikers currently starting for those teams. That is not up for debate. He's not even up to the standard of a Martial or a Rashford. He is therefore a very eligible candidate for replacement.

I don't believe for a second that Ancelotti rates DCL as highly as the strikers currently playing for the teams in the top 7 of the PL right now. You can tell me he does, but you'd be speculating. What we know for sure is that Ancelotti was wise to look to boost the confidence of his first choice striker when he said what he did.
He's one of the luckiest players in the premier league. Our laughable attempts at signing strikers over the last 3 years saw DCL play tens of games and gain huge premier league experience before he was even actually premier league standard.
I wish we were in a position to upgrade on him, as he really, really isn't very good, but we're sadly so far away from being able to do that due to having the worst midfield in the premier league.
Richarlison is an excellent player who although hasn't been at his best since the restart, has at least contributed.

The same cannot be said of DCL.
noun: cart-horse
  1. a large, strong horse suitable for heavy work
That's our Dom.
For years, they were as bad as each other.

With DCL, the improvement was absolutely not worth the wait.
Absolutely not. Nothing was worth the games we've had to watch him up front for us before Silva was sacked. Certainly not one 10-game scoring streak. This isn't his fault, but it was symptomatic of horrific transfer business from the club. I'd assumed the fact I wasn't referring to transfer fees would be obvious, but I was perhaps being overly optimistic.
Tried to explain to people while Lukaku was here that running around a lot and doing certain things right doesn't make a decent striker. It doesn't even make a PL striker. You can do all of those things and be utterly terrible. See DCL.

Goals are 90% of a striker's value to a team. Remember when we had a 25-goal-a-season striker and were made up he left? We're still in pain from that loss now. Even with massive upgrades made in the supporting forward positions and a striker with better hold-up play.
Miles off the quality we need. Looking forward to seeing who we bring in to replace him.
Tiding us over really well until we sign a proper striker.
Same as Davies, out in the summer, with any luck.
3 headed goals in the league in his entire Everton career.
