Agreed. For one, even if he's having a bad game, DCL works till the final whistle and makes himself a nuisance. If Lukaku felt the tide of a game flow against him, he'd hide behind an opposing centre-half and throw his arms in the air when he didn't receive a pass that was never on.

He's 27 years old and his only trophy is a Belgian league cup he won when he was 17. Great goalscorer, bog standard plodder in every other department

They're far from identical, but I actually think they're looking more and more similar with every passing week. And I say it's a good thing.

All of the great strikers were winners. Lukaku scoring the last 2 goals in a 5-0 rout in a semi final and putting the ball into his own net to lose the final encapsulates everything about him as a player. Drogba had nowhere near his strike rate but will be remembered as one of the PL's great strikers because of his application and all round contribution to the teams he played on. Lukaku will be swiftly forgotten.

More to do with with Palace set up and physicality, he had two CBs and two DMs equal to him in presence. And he kept them busy all match and a goal. Good day at the office.

Oh yeah, I know there are reasons why. His touch was off though and that was because he saw so little of it.

It's not a criticism. I'd rather him be scoring like he did today than running about like a lunatic 40 yards out from goal.

He came into it in the last 15 and proved how much he's improved.

Drogba was the absolute dream all-round striker who actually could do everything. That's not Lukaku and I've never said it is. An unlucky deflection in a final doesn't encapsulate everything about anyone, never mind Lukaku.

You don't need a lad on the county road to catch when you ping a ball into DCL.

but Lukaku would probably have put one of those other 2 chances away yesterday I think. Id rather have DCL for a bunch of reasons (attitude/love for the club a significant factor), but its a very subjective choice.
