Hang on, so you don't think we should play him into fitness but are criticizing him for missing yesterday's game?

You've full on lost the plot after this weekend lol

Nope, I expect players to be available and able to perform at a high level. I'm not willing to give players months to build up fitness or sharpness.

You have said we need to be patient and let players play their way back to fitness. The problem with that is that we have no time. It's not really a complicated argument I'm making.

It's your argument that makes no sense and gives the players an excuse and a free pass. I've not lost the plot at all. My reaction is completely normal given what we've seen all season, and the lack of contribution from most of our squad.

DCL is one of the few players who can help get us out of this but we need him on the pitch!

Nah, you've fully lost the plot I'm afraid. You don't get match fitness without playing matches, if he's sick he shouldn't play, if he's not up to scratch then he shouldn't play and you shouldn't then moan he's not playing.

Like I said, I'm sure if I went back I'd find some pearlers for yourself after Coleman and Gomes came back from injury.

I also suspect you would advocate players getting back to PL fitness if we were say midtable right now.

Fact of the matter is: you've slated his performances since he came back from months out and yet still moan when he's not playing? Like you can't have both?

IF we were midtable then yes obviously. But we aren't midtable, are we? We are in horrific form and now are only outside the bottom 3 on GD.

We don't have time for players to put in lethargic performances and have a must win game in 3 days. We need everyone to be available and at full speed right now. As one of the few who can make a difference, we need DCL on the pitch at full speed.

I'm at the point where I don't believe these players are committed to the club. Until I start seeing consistent levels of performance, that opinion won't change. I personally don't understand your rush to defend his recent performances, but that's your right and that's fine.

One thing that seems to have been lost in the noise about DCL being sick is COVID. I'm sure someone may pipe up with "Lampard should say it's covid", but if he felt unwell the morning of the game is it possible the club erred on the side of caution before testing?

He could just have the runs, like.

Who knows. Maybe it's mental health. Again, who knows.

Perhaps wait and see?

I haven’t been defending him - I’ve just said he’s been injured and he’s struggling to catch back up which is obvious and he himself has always admitted to. I will defend not playing someone who is sick though because I’m a normal human being.
