He was, but he had absolutely non existent service too and still managed to bundle some goals in off random parts of his body and made defenders panic and make errors just by running around. I don’t think it’s too much to ask for DCL to at least make opposition defenders’ lives uncomfortable during games.
Your right DCL should be doing better.
But it doesn't justify calling for Niasse to come back.
The guy was rubbish, DCL is out of form and fitness.
Peak Niasse was still crap.

Even so, if we had two Richarlisons, I'd stick one of 'em in the middle instead of DCL. At the moment, I'd rather have Niasse, as at least he worked hard, was fairly quick, he'd close down the opposition, and by virtue of all that, would sometimes be around to toe poke the ball over the goal line.

When all is said and done, something is better than nothing, really.

Niasse hands down is the wrost striker I've ever seen play for Everton. He makes Rondon look like prime Ronaldo.

Do I think DCL is doing enough? Not a chance! BUT, Lampard us doing his utmost not to destroy the lads confidence and just hoping 1 comes in off his arse @MikeH72 mentioned last and suddenly he's very capable of going on a little run. He was bullied by Maguire yesterday, didn't look sure of his physical capabilities at all.

Lampards dangled the carrot, time for him to repay the manager's faith in the run in. Its time for these players now to step up and repay the faith Lampard has put in them.

I've got faith in DCL. A fit and firing DCL flanked by Rico, Gordon or a fit and firing Gray and we are a different proposition. Grab a goal against Leicester, be a hero and a match winner and then go and poundthat rs backline like your life depended on it.

I get what @Glasshalffull is saying though. If DCL could adopt Niasse’s attitude he would be far more effective in games even when he isn’t scoring. Running around and unsettling defenders is the bare minimum for a striker for me, not scoring 20 goals a season, that’s all Antonio does for West Ham and look how vital he is for them. Not a prolific scorer by any means, just a battering ram.

Cenk Tosun is worse than Niasse.

Yep , Dom only has a couple of attributes as a footballer , the above , jumping high for headers and being Johnny on the spot to score .
Ok he's not getting the service , his game is based on athleticism , he really has to get his act together soon or his career will fade away . Can't see him as a 30 year old centre forward he hasn't got the guile .

This part of his game seems to have deserted him.

Yeah I would prefer Dom to be doing those things also.
But just because he isn't right now doesn't mean we should delude ourselves into wanting bang average championship strikers back into the team.
Niasse also massively prone to blunders and poor game management.
Was it the Newcastle game a few years back he came on as a sub when we're 2 up and all he had to do was retain possession and instead repeatedly gave the ball away?

I get why people are frustrated with Dom but he has shown what he can do. Doesn't mean he's exempt from criticism and yes I thought yesterday he played like a ghost.
But yeah people's heads falling off and calling for Niasse to come back is the exact knee jerk responses we don't need.

Sanity please

Rest Dom for a few games, let him build that sharpness and fitness back, few sub appearances and hopefully a cheeky goal.

I think its probably the jumping part, Im guessing he is worried about over stretching his hamstrings/quads which could be a fitness thing or a psychological thing. If its a fitness thing then he shouldn't be involved, he shouldn't be getting put under pressure to play if he is not fit. If its psychological then I would hope he is getting some help with it.

We’ve got to support the guy. Maybe he gets a goal and hits a mini purple patch between now and the end of the season. He’s a good player and is capable of being very important for the team.

There’s been calls for all sorts of players to come in to the team this season but Dom is easily the best and most handsome striker we have at the club.

Vital to being a truly successful CF for this club. Look at our history of strikers in the premier league. On the whole, garbage, on the whole, fugly.
