2021/22 Dominic Calvert-Lewin

All that stuff is neither here nor there.

The only things that matter are that he hasn't been available enough. And when he has played, bar the first 2 or 3 games, he hasn't been good enough.

Something isn't right. I dont see the same level of commitment than previous years.

Did he have the same massive injury the previous years?

Some injuries, but nothing long term. A few hamstring issues in the past IIRC.

We are over 3 months since he returned from the original injury so I dont think we can keep using it as an excuse. Players come back from injuries all the time and don't get given 3 or 4 months to find some sort of form.

Regardless of the reason, I have concerns. Either he is going to have lots of muscle problems going forward or he is extremely out of form.

I mean, we have our own examples of this being the case?

He came back in Jan and has had, I think, 2 more minor injuries since? His body is failing him. I suspect as well if we weren't so desperate in the league he'd have been given longer to work his way back into it. Came back from a horrid injury and flogged for 90 minutes like 5-6 games in a row straight after. It's not smart.

Honestly can't wait to sell him then people will just shut up about him.

Yes? I'm not saying people chatting about him is bad but the sheer amount of pages of vitriol aimed at him for every little thing is just boring now. Once he goes you can all find a new scapegoat.

The only reason you’re in here defending him is because he’s your favourite player, you aren’t bothered about people ripping into Pickford, Keane, Iwobi, Coleman, Kenny, even Richarlison. You only get defensive over Calvert-Lewin.

I defend all our players when the criticism is baseless, subjective or downright stupid. I've defended Pickford plenty of times when people call him awful, defended Iwobi, praised Coleman when he's not gash, never praising Keane he's just bad. Let's not pretend this is the only player thread I'm present in to fit your point.

That didn't happen to be fair. In fact he's only played 90 minutes 5 times in the 3 1/2 months he's been back.

It depends how much he'd actually recovered from the injury before we brought him back. If he was rushed in when he wasn't actually fit then what you're saying is definitely fair. If the injury had properly healed then as Mike said above, it's hardly uncommon for players to come straight back into the side and not have a load of 5 minute sub appearances or a month in the reserves etc while they sort themselves out.

When did these happen?
