Mate of mine who flies over for the matches with me got a call from his wife 2 hrs before the Palace game.
Her young cousin had killed himself at his rented appt in San Francisco. He'd left detailed notes of passwords, bank details, emails, social etc and explained he'd had professional help and meds "for over a year" but he just didn't fancy carrying on. He had a cracking job in a great city (SF - he's from Luton ffs) a year younger than DCL.
When Dom says talking saved his life, it may literally mean that. It may mean it saved him mentally/emotionally. Either way, he needs applauding from the rooftops.
A guy coming into his prime, on the back of a great season. Barely used for his country despite Harry Kane being less than sparkling. Returns to club with a broken toe, not able to train, aggregates toe, muscle problems grow and before you know it 5 months have gone. Your mates are struggling on the field, your best mate is also injured and you don't want to burden him. You rush back, get injured again.
All the while you read ill-judged comments about your lack of commitment, your interests in fashion, the photos, the bags, the move to Arsenal, are you gay, are you trapped, not fit to wear the shirt etc etc.
Whatever happens, he's a hero to many for expressing himself the way he does.
Don't ever change, Dom.
