No chance of a late bid imo as Everton couldn't accept any offer for DCL late in the window as u are already light on numbers upfront. If Toon are going to bid it will be early in order to give u guys time to replace him. The only alternative is if they could give u Chris Wood in part exchange, but I just can't see Everton falling for that sort of stupid transfer
I don't think anyone will be bidding for him now tbh.

Just that if this injury hadn't happened, I could have seen Newcastle firming up their interest. I doubt he'd have been sold, tbf, unless they offered stupid money

Who's doing that?

I'm blaming the manager for not seeing that quad injury has done a number on his main striker / saleable asset at a time we're snookered by FFP and not putting him in the shop window for the limited time he was "fit" in pre season but instead decides to build the team around him (which is as wise as someone building a defence around Mina).

As you said yourself - someone like Newcastle would have been all over an england international CF and we could have had the dough to replace both Dom and Richy.

Instead its Dele up top until King Salaman serves his suspension with no money to spend.
Didn't know the manager is supposed to be a clairvoyant.

I agree, there will be no bids. Its too high a risk with his injury record over the last 12 months and it is only a few clubs that can afford him and they will just do their shopping elsewhere. Maybe a blessing in disguise

I'm not sure it was an 'obvious injury concern' though. Dom did have a very bad injury last season, but did also have 6 weeks of solid rest and recovery and a proper pre-season, which he hadn't had for about 3 years, since 2019 in fact so yeah 3 years.

Maybe they all thought he was firing fit - and he's looked sharp in the 3 games he has played IMO - and as he himself said he was feeling good. We don't know what this injury is. If it's a reoccurrence that's a horrid worry, because it suggests there is something really wrong. But it might be awful luck and a completely new injury.

Now, the issue we have is we sold Richarlison but weren't just needing a Richarlison replacement, we need 5-6 players.

Then you throw in that Richarlison happens to not even be a striker, but a forward who can play anywhere across the frontline. Those players aren't easy to come by but have been looked at. Cornet we're still in for but it looks like Burnley want too much money up front, Dennis is still an option that we might go back in for, we've never disregarded him it seems, and Gibbs-White was a priority target. Broja is another one.

We aren't a good enough team to have a 'back up ST' that is any better than someone like Batshuayi, who I suppose we'd all turn our noses up at. So if we do get a forward, which we want, it's got to be someone versatile like Richarlison and those players cost money.

So I'm not making excuses, because it should have been a priority, but I've laid out there exactly where the club is at. It looks like we really did try to get a forward in to replace Richarlison and realised we were getting nowhere. So we've instead looked to bolster the rest of the squad beforehand, so going into the last month of the window we know exactly what we have to spend.

Ultimately, we've been hit by a huge blow right on the eve of the season, and it's horrible. The one positive is we do have time to amend it. But as I've said, we ain't got a lot of money, so the club are probably going to have to weigh up hopefully getting Gana over the line and then in the next week or so pumping all of the remaining cash into a striker. But that leaves us with little else to play with for the rest of the window, unless we could snag Broja on loan. But Chelsea might not want to do such a deal until they know what their business is going to be. There's a lot of moving parts here.
I think there was always a concern there and there was going to be concern until he put a run of games together. Its only 10 days ago he had to miss a game as a precaution, so they obviously knew something was up.

Tbf there's nothing about this that looks like a blessing in disguise mate.

One thing you'll learn on here is that an Everton injury is not a normal injury. It comes with an Everton tax on top of it.
