It is important that we manage expectations with Dom. He has been out for a long time, it is unlikely he is going to be sharp and on form on his first game back. Let's face it, the likely outcome is a 1 goal defeat to Crystal Palace with DCL doing his DCL and being out for the remaining games anyway.

There's a part of me that thinks it's laughable how much he gets lauded among sections of our fanbase. He's about a 1 in 4 striker. Hardly clinical.

BUT

This is precisely the kind of news you wouldn't want to hear if you were a fan of Forest or Leeds or Leicester. He's 5x the player Maupay is and if he plays anywhere near the level he did against Arsenal, he's ideal for Dyche and what he wants to do.

He is the only player in this team that could hit double figures if fit over a season.

You're right of course, but the bold bit is key here really. It's not really a maybe, it's a definite. We definitely do not have time for him to slowly feel his way back into form, we need him to hit the ground running. Obviously there is a very good chance that isn't going to happen and it won't be his fault if he struggles, but there's no point really in saying people need to be patient and not expect too much, because it's simply not an option for us.
