The difference today was , we played the ball in behind more, we let them have possession and when had the ball we moved it quick, giving them far less time to get back in position and look at the difference it made. It suited DCL.

It annoyed me with the aimless crosses and long balls , he’s also been isolated so frustration grows. Today was different , we played it more into feet , we switched the play quicker and more players joined in attack .

That first goal, with the spin off the defender and then the assist was excellent, the team need to keep this up , move it quicker, play in behind. The difference was night and day.

Well played Dom. Brilliant 👍

First half he was exceptional

You don't need a centre forward to score all the goals. But you need a capable centre forward for the team to function like an actual football team.

Of course defending a 2 or 3 goal lead is much easier than one but it was 1-0 for a good half hour and compare the difference to when 1-0 up v likes of Leeds and Brentford. Back then you had Maupay doing his traffic cone impression and Gray being willing but not really having the knowledge to take up the required positions when ball was punted up to half way line.

Seemed every single time it went forward DCL knew where to be, held it up expertly and either turned or had brilliant support in Iwobi and McNeill who then carried the ball up to the ball superbly.

Think I'm still in shock at seeing an actual functional front three today. Probably the first time that's happened since back end of last minute given most games this season have been won on scrappy goals and/or backs to the wall.

Of course the one other time team won comfortably was 3-0 v Palace with DCL having a rare first half season start that day.

Really need to be scouting europe now to find someone relatively cheap with his profile in prep for next year.

Played fantastic this game. Absolute shame he didn't get his goal.

Edited to add: Those turns he's making are new since he's come back, and make him an absolutely devastating presence. Back when he was scoring in 2020-ish, he really didn't turn with the ball at all, but how he's making unbelievably quick turns in both directions. Set piece defending has also always been a strength of his, so that certainly is helpful to see he's kept up that mentality.
