2022/23 Dominic Calvert-Lewin

His performances in the last two games have been very reminiscent of old school DCL before Ancelotti tried to turn him into a discount Ruud van Nistelrooy. Credit to Dyche for recognising his strengths and also what we need him to actually do in this side, run the channels, make defenders’ lives uncomfortable. Hopefully the days of him standing in a central area and waiting for a tap in that never comes are over.

Some of his first touches though have been top class, poor Dunk, who I rate as a decent centre half, was left for dead and rightly booked from one. Wish some of our midfielders would be taking a gamble and running into his knock one though.

Been out for awhile but he has come back in great condition. Shows great professionalism and commitment to keep doing and eating the right things when it would be easy to let it slip. All credit to the lad I hope he sees out the season and rests up over the Summer to start next season in top form.

How can you say Newcastle will buy him and then say he isn’t a top 8 player lol they’re literally 3rd and both of their current strikers are better than him.
Why are you laughing at people in this thread when you've embarrassed yourself countless times with your hot takes in here???

😂

i see what you mean, but Ancelotti did also give him the confidence to actually just score goals, but he also did have G**** and Digne, James as well, to supply good service too. i think he is just a confidence player who also needs good coaching - like many players around - and I hope he keeps improving!

Will we have to sell him in the summer? His recent successful return to the team only makes him more attractive to other teams, and pushes up the price.
And it's not so much a case of a direct comparison against other PL strikers, it's all about his potential in a better team. For example, what if Kane leaves Spurs?? Big question is, as our most valuable asset, can we afford not to sell due to our financial predicament?

People seriously underestimate the amount of insanely high quality balls James played forward. Should have had about 3 times the assists he did have.

Really can't see anyone offering what would be acceptable for him, which is understandable with his injuries

He is looking fit and sharp, he is a very important player to us and whether or not he is sold in the summer will depend very much on which division we play in. If we stay up I don't see us selling Calvert Lewin, he is far too important to us to let him go cheaply and due to his fitness issues of the past 2 years, I don't see anyone paying us enough to make a deal happen. If we go down however. I think his wages will necessitate us getting him off the books and he may well be sold cheaply.
