….I can see why he’s being linked with a move to Saudi, he could be a real poster boy for them but I have my doubts he’d move there at this stage of his career, despite the monies that will be on offer.

From Everton’s point of view, it would be difficult to turn down a big bucks bid.

He’s just had a baby. There’s zero chance he moves to Saudi next year.

That could work either way. The perspective of being a father coupled with a couple of years where injuries have probably put doubts in his mind about his career, he might be more minded to put principles and sporting ambition aside and take a massive fat contract to set his family up for life, while he's got the opportunity to do so.

It would damage our chances of survival too. I'm not saying he's the best nor is he irreplaceable, but even if we got decent money I doubt we'd get better.

I certainly wouldn't trust the club at the moment to bring someone in to replace him.
It really has to come down to what the long-term injury prognosis is like and only the club and the player really know that. If he really is back fighting fit and there's no worries about him breaking down again, we should be going all out to get him on an extended contract.

But if there's significant doubt about more recurring issues it would be madness to give him a fat 4 or 5 year contract he might not even be able to play out. In which case it would make sense for us and him to cash in on a good spell of form and fitness while we can.

Steven Gerard at work again......Nice of him to destabilise our single hope of avoiding relegation.

Which follows his last involvement with Everton in pushing £20m Patterson onto us!

I think if you have a young child, have had a nightmare run of injuries then your first thought would be the best environment to bring up the baby and the money you will need / want to earn to support an amazing lifestyle for your family.

A Saudi move to a club with fellow foreign players, great education, amazing homes, incredible wealth would set up his child for life.

The question would only be the amount the club would want to sell for.

It would need to be a fee where we could replace him and add another first team player.

The highest fees there are typically around the £50mil level.

Replace his qualities for 50 million ?

Correct me if I'm wrong but we've already bought his replacement.

Who knows...thats just what the saudis have been paying for their higher fee players.

Everton would find it impossible to turn down a £50 million deal for DCL.and equally impossible to replace him.

Depends what were looking to achieve.

If its just a straight swap with DCL out and a replacement in for £50mil then there will be alot of options. Just look at some of the players who moved last summer.

Also, could sell Beto for what we agreed and that figure rises to £71.5mil for two centre forwards.

Who would bid £50 million for him?

The rumour is its a Saudi club who are interested. I mentioned the Saudis pay around £50mil for some of their better players, Neymar went for more but the rest around that fee.
