Yakubu probably my favourite finisher. Just used to pass the ball into the corner with minimum fuss.

He'd got such a repertoire. Good example is the third vs. Portsmouth. Not scared to leather it too. Also noteworthy from the vid was the header by Cahill.

Back to Dom, he'd be the complete article if he could finish like the Yak. As it is he's an excellent team CF who does chip in with goals.

He definitely needed to be scoring from that McNeil through ball, that was a really poor effort. Just thankful that Doucoure was on hand to put it in. He's missed some easy chances in recent weeks has DCL, needs to do better despite his really strong all-round play.

When fit he’s a very effective number 9 and we’re a better team with him starting up front than with any of our other current options.

He’s not a natural finisher. When we had the likes of Yakubu, Lukaku and even Naismith I was confident they’d score when given half a chance… not so much with DCL. But, if he was a 1 in 2 striker, frankly he wouldn’t be at Everton anymore.

Despite him not scoring, despite him missing a few howlers, anybody who cannot see that his work rate and movement are a primary contributor to our midfielders scoring goals is now watching him closely enough. He must be a nightmare for defenders, hence they almost always double up on him, leaving someone else unattended.

Watch the Everton tunnel access video. Some real up close footage of him working rhe channels and how he brings others into play and is a nightmare for the centre half. Especially the Dwight Mcneil shot which he nearly scored, brilliant run onto a long Pickford ball, holds it up, doesn't panic, nice lay off to Harrison and would have been a great goal.

He'll be disappointed with some of his finishing the past few games but there's no doubting hoe important he is when he starts games.

He usually goes on little runs of scoring, rather than being consistent as a goalscorer. He's missed quite a few chances recently, so hopefully it turns and he puts 3 or 4 together over Christmas.

The simple fact is that the team are better when he plays - much better. But it would be nice if he could add a few more goals too.
