You could always sign a younger Beto type who does have that profile. Perhaps Dobbin or Chermiti could develop into that type in time although of course you wouldn't want either to replace DCL just yet otherwise results would massively decline again.

I think the injuries have ruined him. He can play and looks to be past them but he’s lost about 2 years of his prime and never regained the ability.

Sad story but it really does just seem he’s not up to the level anymore and even his holdup play is dreadful compared to what it was, which is his single attribute in this team.

He might not be as good as he was under Carlo for about six months. However the rest of the team need him up there to be as best as they can be if you get my drift.

Unless it's a massive co-incidence that every season he gets fit and strings 3-4 starts together and some awful form is followed by some good wins?

That said there really should be a plan in place to develop an effective plan B. That is why Beto really should be getting a start at some point in the next week given he's started to get back into things and looked a scoring threat.

What makes you think Beto hasn’t got the fitness / capacity for a high energy pressing game?
Genuine question, as we’ve never seen him go at it for 90mins in the prem.
