Nar not having it, easier to come up with these stats when a player misses most games, take out players like tarky,.pickford, branthwaite, myko, garner, onana, doucoure and see what our results look like.

If Calvert-Lewin got a bad injury tomorrow, I'd be very worried. That's how important he is for us - granted, he's bang out of form, but his presence/focal point and impact he has on the team is massive. Beto can't play that role yet, IMO.

Tarkowski and Branthwaite are massive for us given it's Keane who'd come in (I'd have Godfrey ahead of him). Doucoure has really surprised me this season and is a big player for us but long term I'd rather have a number 10 who has some composure/can play a ball forward.

I do get what your saying, but our form over the last 3 years without has been so bad because we had rondon/maupay/gray as alternatives.

If for example pickford has missed a prolonged spell in either of the last 2 seasons then I think we'd have comfortably gone down, same for tarkowski etc

He's having a poor season/bad form but it'll come. He's still our most important player.

Agree to an extent, I think a Dyche team does just need a target guy to work properly and while Beto is still adapting and Chermitti has barely began his professional career - DCL is our best bet.

That said, would like to see Beto come in for a few games. Let DCL be the guy to come of the bench and work on tired defenders for a change.

The Dyche system is not designed to get the best out of any striker whether that's DCL or anyone else, it's why a 15-20 goal a season type would be wasted in this setup. However the person who does play the role needs to be clinical with the chances they get and at the very least making the keeper work.

We'd have gone down without him, without doubt the last 2 seasons.

But I think a fit Calvert-Lewin every week in those 2 seasons, and with a Begovic type in goal, we're midtable. As we were before his injuries.

A lesser keeper can keep you 17th and above.

But accept the point, I'd have kept Begovic.

Agree, but even before then mate when we finished in the nose bleeds places of 12th - we were very reliant on Calvert-Lewin;

No coincidence when he come in last season he started in 2 of Dyches biggest wins.

He's been below par this season, if he can stay fit, and find some form we'll be sound. As we were before points deduction.

We've been making chances for DCL this season, while I'd agree the setup is not the same as Carlo's where DCL just has to poach and/or play off the shoulder, I don't think we are massively hampering his game. He does more work to allow others to get in and around the box, which has worked well under Dyche.

But yeah there's stats about induvidual players with the highest xG this season and I'm pretty sure DCL is right up there, so he is getting chances but not being as clinical as you say.

Yeah I agree mate, been like that for the team as a whole this season tbh. I'm just glad we are improving.

Not digging DCL out by any means btw, I'm just of the opinion that if your main striker is off the boil and you have a guy on who you spent a fair bit of money on the bench, then you play him instead.
