From the BBC....

"Referee Chris Kavanagh originally took no action but reviewed the incident on the pitchside monitor following an intervention from video assistant referee (VAR) Michael Salisbury before showing Calvert-Lewin the red card in the 79th minute."

??? Wasn't Pawson VAR?

BBC keep saying it was Salisbury but he was SVAR;

Good that it's been overturned for DCL and Everton.

However, there should be some changes made to the operation/use of VAR, not least an acceptance that the "ref-in-the-sky" can be wrong.

Just seen the good news, common sense - What this does do, however, is put HUGE question marks over who is doing the VAR. And who has authority to referee the game.

Everyone needs to look at it but I don't care about anyone else, Everton need to make sure they have "their" cards marked, so to speak, with reference to VAR. Hopefully we will have these stupid decisions stop going against us like they do.

It’s not as though it had a lot of credibility at this point anyway, but how can VAR possibly be taken seriously after this? By rescinding the red card they’re openly admitting that VAR intervened by stopping the game for five minutes so that they could force an on-field referee to overturn his correct decision.

It's great that it's been overturned but surely that highlights the incompetence on the VAR officials who thought it was a red and the on field ref who agreed with them upon seeing the slow motion replay. Someone is useless - the VAR police & ref or the appeal board. As my dear old Ma used to say 'you can't have it both ways'
