2024/25 Dominic Calvert-Lewin

Just like Iwobi he'll be another that flourishes away from camp colditz Everton.

If we played to his strengths he'd probably score enough (headers from crosses), that he may slot some of the ones that aren't in his wheelhouse that he snatches at now (one on ones). His confidence is shot but with the right manager and playing style there is no reason why he can't get back to what he was doing under Ancelotti.

What he was doing under one of the best managers of all time and one of the most creative number 10’s on the planet?

He scored 16 in 11 and then went back to his usual form… he’s been here 8-9 years and using an 11 game purple patch is not looking at the big picture .

Jelevic done the same , then went crap, then left and was never heard of again

We'll see.

Even under Ancelotti he stopped doing “what he was doing under Ancelotti”. 4 goals in 20 games in the second half of the season.

Yes, it's remarkable people want to passionately defend mediocrity. DCL, Thelwell, and even Dyche have their to-the-death loyalists for reasons nobody really needs to divulge. None of them are worth a wink of sleep over. Club needs a massive purge. Everyone except Pickford and Branthwaite out. Burn it down - not the new stadium, mind - and start again.

Even Pickford and Branthwaite have made some pretty big mistakes recently however no one is infallible tbf

Look he's never going to be prolific we know that, but I do believe he'll pump in a reasonable 10-15 goals consistently and look a lot better in the process at another club. The tail end of Ancelotti isn't really applicable as we turned into the kind of defencive team that we are now. Teams that are more open with a bit more about them will give Dom the chances he needs to miss a load but also score more. That's what we had at the beginning of that season.

why can’t he do it here with a new manager and different players?

Perhaps you could explain to me why other players (soon to be out of contract) go for fees in January but not DCL ?

Not saying he will do, but it is certainly not a "fantastical" suggestion.
I’ve consulted my Hong Kong Book of Kung Fu and I can confidently answer your question Zat. It’s because the “other players” aren’t DCL.

What club though. Even on a free tansfer fee i cant for the life of me see what the attraction is. Look at him on 1 on 1s with keepers. He's terrible. Is he suddendly going to start slotting them at another club? I doubt it. So whats the pluses? He can be good in the air at times. So any potential buyer needs class wide men to put it on his head.
I dont think he will get or warrants any club bending over backwards to accomodate his all round average game.
We'll see. But i'll be very surprised.

I think is hold up play is fairly decent, he's also good defending corners, at the moment it's the finishing that is dragging him down to average level (& of course rightly so as it's key for an attacker), however that can just be confidence thing or he needs a change.

I used Iwobi as an example as you could throw the same complaints at him whilst he was here. He scored 9 in 140 appearances (4 seasons), he's scored 11 in 50 for Fulham (nearly 1.5 seasons). If you go to an offensive minded team, you have more chances, there is more space as there is more attackers to defend. You get a few goals and suddenly you're not so nervous in front of goal. He's never going to be a finisher in terms of a Lineker or a Rush, but in a Fulham or Brentford side he could do a good job. Obviously up to him to lower his wage demands which is output doesn't currently warrant.

We've had loads of strikers show equally as poor and it's down to how we play and the pressure cooker environment they operate in.
