2024/25 Dominic Calvert-Lewin

He is mentally weak. That is for sure. I don't deny he had talent and potential. He is just way too inconsistent and has next to no confidence in himself. One thing that always bugged me about him is how reluctant he is to take on defenders in a straight line sprint on goal. He is actually pretty fast- but his instinct is always to turn around and slow the game down. He never bets on himself and I think that is why he is so lacking in goals apart from his finishing. He could have had quite a few more breakaways if he took chances on. He is just too flawed regardless of his contract situation here. He needs a change of scenery where they can get crosses in and get other scorers around him to make up for the droughts.

Finishing is all for a striker. DCL’s finishing isn’t even up to schoolboy levels. He’s crap, always has been apart from one season and has basically stolen a living from the club. Looks nice dressed as a girl though…….

It’s insane the excuses made for this lad.

He seems like a very likeable guy but he’s crap at his very well paid job.
Honestly I cursed him when he screwed up that absolute sitter late on on Wednesday. Not that he needed anymore cursing, but that lad should be very grateful for the salary he's on. Still as modern footbally evolves, he'll probably get a vastly improved contract next season. Just glad that that most probably won't be at Everton.

No one will pay a fee for him now...

And he will stay until the summer for bigger wages. As is his right.....

Terrible disappointment this lad. Not all his fault but expected much more from him
Scored the diving header vs Palace and will go down as a saviour.

Been grossly messed about since. And his pal Davies opted out. When your mates don't fancy it, and the pressure has been upped, maybe it's time for pastures new.

I think it’s in everyone’s interests to sell him, if possible, or at the very least replace him with another starter, this window. We cannot be reliant on a player in the last months of his contract who has already indicated he wants out to score the goals to keep you in the league, regardless of who it is.
This! To me he looks finished at Everton and at Everton we look to be finished with him. Time to move on for all parties.

Really tough gig being Everton’s no.9, made harder with our recent “style of play.” Might have talent but hasn’t got that arrogance and unrelenting overconfidence for the position. Was the designated penalty taker for his country and let Henderson take the ball off him, and miss.

Whether it’s just the way he is, or a result of long barren stretches, he’s desperate to not miss, instead of being desperate to score. Huge difference. Can both get the same result, but one is much much harder to pull off, and will be mentally punishing.

What's the latest excuses?

If we all turn around, close our eyes and put our fingers in our ears he might be remotely worth a hundred grand a week?

After 8 years that's the only time he's been remotely competent. I agree that wearing a dress once is quite possibly the greatest achievement ever of liberalfootbalisms and henceforth we should persevere with another 8 years of inadequate footabalisms for fear of being called bad words.

He has never hit a ball cleanly. Not once. For all his supposed hold up play I have never once seen him spread the play to a wide man at pace. And people complain about the delivery to him? Why if his hold up play is so good?
