2024/25 Dominic Calvert-Lewin

McNeil is a loss for sure, but that doesnt mean DCL isnt.

Bigger loss? We dont have anybody that can do what McNeil can do and IMO we dont have anybody that can do what a fit and up for it DCL can do.
I'm not going to question anyone's opinion. I will question the hypocrisy. Not you as I think you have been steadfast in your opinion. You have been consistent on him. But people are judging him against a Spurs team that was missing (11 people I think?) That are borderline relegation fodder this season. Where was he against a half arsed Villa team the week before? They were having a laugh and they walked out of the stadium with a win because Dom can't hit the broad side of a barn. Beto gets one game. Looks a clown but that clown essentially won us the game. Everyone is looking towards the negatives instead of what he can do to improve and people just write him off despite having an obvious impact. Crazy how that works.

You know, maybe the Beto under Moyes is better than the Beto under Dyche.

I would hope. We need to be in the market either way imo. But I won't write him off in a game he clearly had an impact in. It might not be pretty. But swap Dom for Beto and I think we lose. Call it lucky or whatever. For me he has the Niasse factor and that can win you some games.

We all hope Beto will improve. He wont though !
Everyone talks nonsense on Beto, but he's never been given a fair chance by this team. DCL has had 19 starts — over 1500 minutes — and has just 3 goals. Two of those came early in the season in losses, and he's almost nothing to do with any of our wins before the Spurs game, when he finally showed something.

Beto has been given one start plus scraps for about 300 minutes, 1/5 the opportunity DCL has had, mostly coming in at the ends of games in moments of managerial desperation with no tactics. There's no comparison. He's a different kind of striker, but he's one who can power through in situations where DCL loses the ball or the nerve to attack. If the team had played to Beto's strengths and given him the chance to prove himself, he would have given everything for Everton, but Dyche may have wasted his time here.

McNeil played well for the first 4 games and then started stinking the gaff out before getting injured, people have strange memories.
The stats don't lie. Even they back Dwight up. He is clearly the most creative player in the side. Ndiaye is more important because of the water carrier duties, but Dwight plays both sides of the ball and has a great left foot. We have struggled to create anything without him. And no I don't count an amputated Spurs team that are a clear outlier.
