2024/25 Dominic Calvert-Lewin

Yes I'm absolutely sure our 27 year old striker, in his 9th season of top flight football, with 17 goals to his name in the last 3.5 years would have totally bagged his second(??) ever career hat-trick...

...just like I'm sure if I'd have got 3 more numbers on the EuroMillions I'd be beating off a yacht full of bikini-clad supermodels right about now (well, hopefully it would be the other way around, but ya can't have everything I suppose)
Sorry mate, I thought from your post you wanted to play the 'probably' game.

Seriously some people need to get a life. Dom is injured ffs. And people are in here bumbing up the thread after Beto scored 2. Trying to big up Dom. Giving Dom praise and calling him a better striker.

Weirdos.

To 'blame' for what? That we won a game of football? We cheered Beto (a guy who has never been given a fair crack of the whip from day one, I think most fair people might agree with that) scoring as many goals in 40 mins as our untouchable No9 has in about 16 games. Hopefully his fan club goes with him in six months, imagine how ace it would be to have a striker than can score more than 6 or 7 goals a year when they play every week........

I'm not sure. People seem to be going on about him after a game we won and he didn't play in. It just feels a bit odd.

A few people seem a bit obsessed with him that's all. Enjoy the win mate 👍

Wonder if he can convince dcl to stay like he managed to do with Nani at Man Utd
Anybody trying to 'convince' him to stay should have serious questions asked of them. No club in the country that aspires to be upwardly mobile -least of all in the Premier League- would be clinging on to a striker who barely gets a handful of goals a year. Would any other ambitious club do it? If a club that wishes to shake off it's clownshow tag honestly can't (or wont) expect, demand, or aim for better, then we might as well just accept relegation battles every year if we keep hold of attackers who can't score.

No striker is going to score goals under a Benitez / Lampard and Dyche regime

His game is also more than just scoring goals. His hold up play is probably one of the best in the league.

The best thing for us is Beto continuing to score, even doing the hard pressing and Dom having to have a massive fight to earn his spot before the contract runs out. He'll have to show he's worth his wage cuz not many will pay him what he wants if he can't get his place back in this side.

Each to their own, but dismissing 3.5 years of a very poor goal return because "the manager isn't Carlo" doesn't cut it for me. I appreciate strikers/forwards have different attributes, but the bottom line is almost all of them are there to score goals. Hold-up play and header-winning is great and all, but he is the first choice striker in the team and he doesn't score goals/misses so many chances because he is just not a natural finisher; hence why we have been so reliant on the likes of Doucoure & McNeil to get 6/7 goals each to see us across the line. No sensible -or successful- club carries strikers who cant score.

We signed this lad for £1.5 million a striker, where would you get a striker for that sort of money, the service he has given to this club, the important goals he has scored Palace, Liverpool to name a few.

in the short time he played for Everton under Moyes he looked a different player, a player who always gives his all and is so proud to represent the number 9 shirt at this club, as he has said many times.

Let's give this lad a break and enjoy the win today.

I actually think it would be very easy to find a 1.5m striker that hardly plays and never scores tbh
