2024/25 Dominic Calvert-Lewin

In commentary yesterday the stat about it being DCL's 13the game without a goal was mentioned.

I guarantee that every Evertonian listening just shrugged their shoulders. No one expects him to do anything other than go on long goal droughts.

Probably the most appalling leader of our attack in my lifetime...and I've seen Brett Angell.
Terrible bait this Dave. You can do better than this.

Also the myth about being good in the air and hold up play. He’s garbage at that also as well as scoring goals.

He offers nothing to this club apart from about 2 purple patches in al oat 10 years.

Getting a replacement for what he offers you could do better with what we already have at the club
He had the Ancelotti season where EVERYTHING was catered to his game and he got a few goals. Tbf he took a lot of chances but he's been nowhere near that in any other season he's been here.

The day we get a real finisher at this club again we'll all look back in horror at this Calvert-Lewin era.

I have an easy rule of thumb I use to measure someone's knowledge about footballers: you just failed it.
You are saying that a Striker who scored 50+ goals for us the is worst you have ever seen.

You would fail ALL the tests.

Currently hes half arsing it for the worst manager in the league with the worst attacking set up in world football, hes VERY bad, but thats now.

He needs to leave, for his own sake.

I'm not with you on this. He's missed a lot of chances he should have finished earlier, but there have been very few chances for any striker for a while. He deserves to sit just because we're not getting anything going forward, but in this I feel its more tactics than ability.

You saw yesterday the same tactics with Broja as DCL, firing it to his head with no one around. No one is controlling that ball, no one is holding that up. What he and Broja are being asked to do, with no one anywhere near them, is frankly impossible.

The difference between us and Forest/Wood is stark. He had 1-2 players in and around him each time he was targeted. That just doesn't happen with us.
PREACH.

Would love to see Haaland in our set up.

Yes, in the context of being our No.1 striker for 7 straight seasons.

He's athletic, he's mobile, he can lay the ball off...but as a finisher forget about it. His return over the last 4 seasons has been catastrophic.

He was injured, then coming back from injury, then hes had crap manager after crap manager, a toxic fanbase and currently our set up isnt made for a Striker to flourish.

You will consider them excuses, but they are reasons.

The reality is, hes not scoring, mainly cos we aint creating, but hes no longer "trying", hes putting in 50% at most and this utter clown of a manager still picks him.

He needs to go, join a club who's fanbase doesnt abuse him and find his groove.

But in the short term, be great if our crap manager stopped picking him.

Is right. Can't think of another single Premier league club where he would still be getting regular football with a record like he's got last 4 years .Absolutely shocking

You're right: I consider them excuses.

The feller has been fit for ages and handed chances and still fluffed the vast majority of them.

The Ancelotti season has kept people hanging on for him to return to form. He's shot. Utterly shot. He's like one of those golfers who have the incurable yips.

This manager and his tactics kills strikers.

End of.

Good luck to DCL if he leaves,
I’d be fed up to the back teeth playing under this fraud.
I think both are true….1. We don’t create enough chances and 2. DCLs is not a prolific goal scorer….prolific goal scorers probably convert chances at what, say a 1 in 2 or 3 ratio? I think his is probably more like a 1 in 10? For a team that creates little he ain’t scoring many.

It reminded me of back in the 90s when there was a public clamour to get Andy Cole into the first 11 for England even though Shearer was in his pomp. Hoddle used to say the same thing….Cole needed a lot of chances to convert 1 and in international football not that many chances are created.

This post is in no way intending to compare DCL with Andy Cole!
