Every time Koeman plays him any position other than upfront the doomsday clock ticks forward 5 seconds
DCL is probably the most improved PL player in the past 13 months. Nobody in their right minds would suggest he should have played "up front" instead of Lukaku last season, yet Koeman played him in other positions , allowed him to learn and develop. He's still no Lukaku, yet he has developed some strengths that are better than him , like his involvement, tackling back to win the ball. It's a shame we muck about with the threads so much as I could show that last season's thread on him were filled with fume that he was getting game time at all, and Koeman was getting stick for even naming him and having faith in him.
DCL is probably the most improved PL player in the past 13 months, all credit to him for working hard and learning, all credit too to Koeman for his part in his development.

I'm quickly learning to dislike this fella for the gang of beauts that are now popping up in every thread talking about how they always knew the boy was class.

Get a hold of yourselves lads, he was slated last year because he was gash and ineffective on the wing. That wasn't his fault but let's not pretend the lad looked like anything special in the few games we played.

Most of us who were correctly saying he wasn't good enough at the time were not writing him off permanently but simply suggesting that the lad was not quality enough at the time to be starting for us on the wing. That should have been clear to anyone with eyes.

The way some of you are going on about him since the U20 World Cup you'd think he was Messi. He seems to have improved on last year but let's not go calling him our saviour off of the back of a goal against some Slovakians and a few headers he won at City.

he was 19 and you were writing him off and giving him all sorts of abuse despite knowing he was out of position? great supporters

Here's a few quotes from it

"wasn't good enough at the time"

"he was slated last year because he was gash and ineffective on the wing. That wasn't his fault"

No mate, it wasn't his fault he was played out on the wing but he was still crap and was deservedly called so.

Am I supposed to turn a blind eye when he was obviously not performing to a reasonable standard despite it not being his fault he's played out of position? Nah, I'll call it as I see it.

He's kicked on and is actually making an impact in games but last season he was a complete passenger in matches and I'm not going to hear anything else.

Let's not pretend you were massively impressed by him before the U20 World Cup lad.

id like to think he wouldnt be cast aside on such limited showings. calvert-lewin has been given plenty of chances despite mostly underwhelming displays.
