I feel like some are ultra protective of any criticism of him. Fair play, but the lad is meant to score. He's basically a poor man's Costa without the scoring. It's not terrible as he can get that going but...it's a bit of a long shot..

It would be fine if we had any other good options too, it's unfair on the lad

DCL is average in my opinion

However I do feel for him as he’s got a lot of pressure on his shoulders due to Everton’s failure (once again) to act in the transfer window

I also feel sorry for him due to the fact he is a centre forward yet gets played on the wing! The ignorance of our manager to admit he knows DCL is better centrally yet continues to play him wide is completely beyond belief

Agreed. For anyone who watched the u-20 World Cup in the summer he was no better than Solanke over the park. Yet one of those players has been thrown in at the deep end due to total ineptitude by the club's transfer dealings, whilst the other can be eased in and given time to develop. It's shocking that this is what we're relying on to help replace Lukaku's output.

Feel for the lad but hopefully all these games speed up his development and have a positive impact on him. Although I do worry his ceiling isn't that high.

Hounded out, not good enough, can't hold the ball up etc etc Lukaku - 130 senior goals before the age of 23

Teflon-Bambi aged 20 - 18 goals

He's on the right track, I believe in him

..it’s wrong to compare this lad to Lukaku because they are different types. Lukaku is a finisher and the statistics confirm he’s a top finisher. I doubt DCL will ever be a prolific goalscorer in much the same way as Sharp wasn’t. He will run the line and hold the ball up well. The art of management is to ensure his type is part of the right blend as Sharp was with the likes of Gray, Heath, Lineker and Cottee.

It does help to play him in his right position and he’ll be most effective with players who are prepared to run beyond him. Blend and partnerships.

Should be an impact sub, and starting against lower league teams and weaker europa league sides. Unfortunately we have no options to actually use in his stead so we are expecting him to be a finished article before hes ready to be

I agree overall with your post but as regards the highlighted bit I would add that he is very much above average for his age.

For me, although we are putting far to much pressure on the boy, he is overall responding extremely positively to it and I see a much better player than at the same stage last season. Hopefully the goal scoring will improve with age and experience, but apart from that I see only positives for the future.

Just wish Koeman would stop playing him out wide though.

The best accolade I can pay him is that his performances have silenced a lot of his critics (for which there were a ridiculous number for a 20yo) on here.
