I see a player in Sandro too. Unbelievably. But not in this team currently. You just know we'll sell him and he'll slot for fun elsewhere. That's just Everton for us.

I think I posted a fun stat a while back that we have nearly the highest ratio of crosses per throughball in the league, and we bought Sandro who has scored four goals from crosses EVER.

Nearly across the board, the players are fine-to-good individual players (I actually really like DCL and am sure the goals will come). But they're all being hung out to dry by being bought and played by a manager with less of a clue than previously thought biologically possible. They don't fit together as a team in any sense, a fair chunk of them will have to move elsewhere to perform, even when we get a new manager.

Shouldn't be given the burden of pulling us out the mire at his age especially with the overall amount of football he's played.
Fully agree. Exposed by the lack of options from the senior players. I hope he can come out of this hardened into a stronger player, rather than ruined. Should be coming on for 15-30 minute cameos and given freedom to play - not have unfair expectation and grief hurled at him.

I'd qualify that as *yet. Not good enough yet.
In my eyes it's harsh to expect him with next to no experience in top flight football to come in and lead the line and the team. Lots of pressure on him as the only proper forward on the team, something that illustrates the complete failure of our recruitment team. IMO what we've seen from him has been promising in glimpses with all around play, but he still lacks that lethal nose for goal.
He was a midfielder till 17? so needs to practice and refine that part of his game as he gets in good positions but lacks the goals.
He should never have been first choice, second or third maybe...
Walsh and Koeman had a shocker selling Rom and not replacing him. Unreal.

Agree with pretty much every word of that.

Because it's a failure to understand that a centre forward's job isn't only about being on the end of crosses (and in DCL's case, missing when he does).

The defenders don't fear him, so play a higher line. They aren't knocked out of their stride by him , so they don't have to worry or hurry a pass or make a mistake. He doesn't have high quality movement himself, so a centre back and full back don't have to work overtime to keep track on him.

Again , it's not his fault he is playing but he is nowhere near good enough. He's Beckford without the goals

This! This is DCL in a nutshell.

Also, because he has a weird run like Harry Kane does not mean he is Harry Kane. He is a 2-year loan in lower leagues away from even having the chance to play at this level. Not the kids fault, I just don't see a future for him.

Sandro is clearly a Walsh signing that Koeman didnt want.

I agree that he could well become a decent player, and sadly rather than thrive with all the unexpected senior game time (as other youngsters have done at other clubs) he's got steadily worse this season. He's (currently) not even a Championship standard striker and he's being asked to lead the line in a dysfunctional side

He's literally jumped from odd games in league two to premiership starter.

Madness.
