I think that he has the makings of a top Premier league striker except for one key attribute. Finishing. His shooting is at times weak and usually far too near the centre of the goal making it easy for the keeper. It is as if. He is afraid to miss, so doesn't want to take the chance of his shot being off target by going for the corner.

There was a video on Facebook a while back with Rooney, Klassen and DCL in a one on one challenge (beat a man and finish). Rooney and Klassen found the corner every time (Klassen actually won the challenge, but that is a different debate), but DCL was awful and nearly always straight at the keeper.

I don't know if this is confidence or whether it can be coached into the lad, but until he adds this to his game, he will never quite make it.

A shame because he has developed so well in other areas and his performance away at City was very Very good. Here's hoping our coaches can help him

Are you sure? Most of the games this season he has played up front we produced nothing, do you want to go back to that, Niasse plays then we start producing things, it was actually Niasse yesterday that made the goal happen.Im pleased it landed on DCL head because if it had been his foot it would have been a pass back to the keeper. I can't honestly see what people see in him, I wish Leipzig had have wanted him. Our best choice at the moment is Niasse up front, our attacking is much more fluent with him in there, the inclusion of Walcott has helped that to.

Niasse is deadwood. The worst striker we’ve had in decades. Misses sitter after sitter and offers nothing up top. Rather give DCL games to give him experience whilst nothing to play for

At least Niasse get chances, DCL get very few doesn't help the attacking if he wins a header he always passes it back to the other team to put us under pressure again, DCL idea of attacking is looking back, Niasses is looking forward. Niasse is a goalscorer DCL isn't, I hope if Unsworths gets the oxford job he loans DCL for next season. But if you like zero attacking football, the DCL is the striker for you, also 7th is still to play for it could even get Europa.

Nothing to play for? We are still in the relegation mix.

As for misses sitter after sitter, well he missed a couple a week ago. he has been pretty clinical in front of goal otherwise.

And yeah offers nothing.

Except goals.

Who needs goals?

Wow at every sentence.

Bored, so I thought I'd look up some stats on the Premier league website (it's pretty good actually)

Now sit tight, what I'm about to reveal is slightly mind blowing.

DCL: shots 46.goals 5
Niasse: shots 51 goals 10
Lukaku (the interesting bit) shots 609 goals 97.

So DCL scores every 9.2 shots
Niasse scores every 5.1 shots
Lukaku scores every 6.2 shots.

All hail our sweet deadly African Prince!

By the way, Aguero scores every 5.6 shots and Kane every 5.5 shots.

I know stats don't tell everything, but they back up most people's gut feeling which is that Niasse is doing alright at the moment...

No surprise, If oumar got genuine quality service he would slot a shed load. Our strikers don't even have scraps to feed of as it goes

DCL must really have something, we have Davies,Kenny,Holgate who have all been slated by some fans at various times of the season, but they are all very good in their positions. Then we have DCL who imo who isn't very good in his position, but rarely gets slated, I really don't understand it because for the life of me I can't see any better than a very average player in there, championship level at best. Some fans still want him a head of Niasse who has produced much more in a lot less time and when played results have improved. I really can't understand what fans see in DCL, i like someone to explain.

Missed 2 glaring chances vs Leicester, Sage.
Yes but was in there to get them great chances, I haven't ever seen DCL in them sort of positions. Defoe at Spurs us to miss loads of chances but he got a fair few goals, that because he was always there or there about to have the chance, that is what Niasse is like.
