He was given the chance today 1 on 1 and ballsed it up, terrible finisher
This is where he needs to improve the most. It could be down to a lack of composure (still only 20ish) so he can refine that part of his game. I see good attributes but he needs to bulk up. He is a little too skinny to take all of the punishment from the CB's

I think he looks good when played as a striker like he should be, bring players in, holds the ball, tenacious, wins free kicks, breaks up play and can score goals as shown for England and against RUzemberok. Until we buy a striker, i have no problem seeing him up top.

Wasn't holding the ball up today. Imagine him against the likes of Shawcross. Will be bullied out of it easily.

Fortunate effort tbh, watch it back and the keeper doesn't cover himself in glory

Seems like a pessimistic way of judging it to me. He got put through 1 on 1 with the tie on a knife edge and stuck it in the bottom corner to kill off the game having come on as a substitute. No one else on the pitch was capable of doing it the other night and I think he deserves credit for his composure and ability to put it in the back of the net.

You can either finish or you can't. Look at Owen, rooney, fowler, shearer etc, they all could finish at a young age. He could improve on it but he hasn't got the natural instinct like the others mentioned above did. He doesn't seem to excel in anything which will hinder his career.

Got to be cut throat here. Can't carry baggage if we want to break into the top 6.

He's got promise as a rotation option but if he's starting every week we are in trouble he just isn't strong enough to hold it up yet.
Agreed.

Those writing him off at 20 are either wumming or being way too over critical. Likewise those suggesting we go into the season with him being our main striker are putting way too much responsibility on the lads shoulders.

At 20 he still has a load of developing to do. He isn't the specimen that Rooney, Lukaku or the Brazilian Ronaldo were at his age, but that doesn't mean that he can't become a very good striker in his own right. His skill set seems quite rounded, albeit with a lot of learning still to do, and he reminds me a little bit of Harry Kane at the same age. He was 2 years older before you could say he really broke through, and that was after learning his trade in the EL and sub appearances in the PL.

The really good thing about him in my view is his attitude and temperament, his willingness to learn and work hard at his game. He went into the U20 WC probably as 3/4 choice striker, but ended up playing in every game and starting all but one. Individually he wasn't the best imo, but collectively the team played better with him in it.

Koeman obviously sees something in him too, although ffs I wish he would stop playing him out wide. Calls for him to go out on loan are wrong imo. He needs to be part of the squad. We need to bring in a first choice central striker and use DCL as his back up, bringing him on late in games when he can stretch tiring defences, and starting him in some of the easier domestic and EL up ties. Most of all we need to remember that he is still a young lad who is very much in the development stage, and give him our full support rather than slagging him off every time he makes a mistake, or doesn't beat 3 players and score a worldie. Some of the comments on here have been quite ridiculous at times.

Harry Kane couldn't finish his dinner at the same age, now he's best striker in the league.
People writing him off far too early
