I don't think it's what he earns. Calvert-Lewin has made 13 appearances for Everton's first team, Barkley has made 150. You can see Calvert-Lewins progression over those games. To me Barkley doesn't look 150 games better then when he first broke into the team. I think he's improved in some areas but in others he hasn't.

I should have clarified I don't condone any of the abuse he gets at all. I think that's the source of people's frustration with him. That leads idiots to act how they do

A bit unfair on the poster. He has a point if we are relying on DCL as our starting striker we will struggle to stay in the top 7. But there is still a week left so let's see if we can bring in someone better and proven!

He said maybe worse which it could be, he has barely played so too early to tell. In any case poor first touch in lukakus case does not matter because he is goal scoring machine/finisher.

DCL has decent potential but -at best- he should only be starting league cup games and coming on as a late sub in Premier league games .

Did you watch the last premier league game against a lot of people's favorites for the title away from home and he put in a MotM performance and provided the assist for the goal? He can most definitely and should start in some Prem games and Europe after we (fingers crossed) get our new forward.
