I would be willing to discuss this, if I could believe that this isn't just some Clarksonesque mock the fat stupid Yanks thread. There is a lot that is interesting that is going on here, and that tool Trump is playing his role perfectly. His job here is to simply be himself. He's not there to be the next President - he's there to decide who becomes the next President. If he runs third party, he can kill any Republican nominee, as Ross Perot (remember him?) did to the first Bush back in '92. Guess who won that election? To top it all off, Trump has enough financial savvy to make his campaign look as if it is self-financed, or not, depending on which way they choose to play this. It is very, very, early - mind you that. Events will likely overwhelm Mr. Trump, as they will all of us. Still...

I have a mental picture of Bill Clinton and the Donald sitting at a table enjoying a snort and a seegar, discussing this possible scenario sometime after the Obama nomination was locked up sometime back in 2008.

Regardless, Trump isn't going to be the nominee - and I don't truly believe he even wants to be. This is a publicity stunt on a grand scale, nothing more.

Oh, no, he absolutely is. He just has zero percent chance of winning. Remember all the nutters who were "frontrunner" for a short while last time? Right now, he's in the lead because he's getting something like 20% of support in a very crowded field when the only people being polled are "likely voters" belonging to one party.

Think of Donald Trump as Bryan Oviedo. He could win an early player of the season vote if you included the full squad. But halfway thru the season if you had say 5 players he'd probably stand no chance.

After saying all that I just thought about Jordan Henderson getting the FIFA cover therefore proving there's enough crazy in the world for anything to happen.

Theoretically there's a few scenarios I can think of whereby a non MP can become PM.

1) Leader of party that wins general election fails to win his/her seat.

2) Party leader sits in house of Lords, not commons. Used to happen quite a bit.

3) Queen appoints whoever the hell she wants.

None are likely to happen.
