I'm British but I'm always bemused by the bashing Americans take in popular narrative and media over here. The British seem to think that 'we have problems but we're not as bad as the states' as though it's some kind of excuse for our own societal ills and discrepancies. The truth is that we're the same in many respects. Take the ramblings of Nigel Farage or boris Johnson and you could easily build a picture in the media of Brits as being bigoted fools.
That said, Trump is an abomination, a truly deplorable human.
