Americas crusade against Islam by Fox News and the likes is nothing short of what happened to the Jews in Nazi Germany before the War broke out.

The problem with reactions like this (and Trump's outrageous statement) is that they don't play the same card when it's a non-Muslim doing the mass shooting. Ok, the end result in both cases is "arm yourselves" but there's no agenda-driven fear factor being pushed. It's nasty. The US justice system still has a sinister racism problem so not much hope things will get any better in that respect.


Regarding Muslims and Islam: one thing that would really help the global debate is openness: Awareness of the Hadiths and how they differ from the Quran and why that's important. Freedom for Ex-Muslims to criticise their ex-religion publicly without fearing for their life and freedom for satirists to depict and take the piss as they see fit. It's vital that moderate Muslims, or rather westernised Muslims, lead this new direction. As Samad suggests, an Islam-lite (without the influence of the Hadiths) could be the way forward, it would mirror the development Christianity took post-enlightenment.



Regarding Trump: one interesting theory I've seen is that he only entered the race to go on the troll, for giggles, and to bloat his brand. Sounds like something he would do. He doesn't actually want the nomination as that would potentially mean: a) having to give up the running of his business empire if he wins, or b) having to taste defeat against the Democrat nominee. Expect more extreme views from him designed to get himself off the frontrunner spot. Although what @mezzrow said could equally hold.

This. Has anyone ever seen Trump and Chico together in the same place and time? Pictures won't do - I'll need to see a proper gif or video before my skepticism is mollified. If azul disappears into a phone booth, I'll expect the Combover Luchador to come walking out.

Just saying... It would explain so much.

Wonder if people over there are just going along for the ride?

Stuff politics, just show some support for the least qualified candidate off that show on the telly because he will never win anyway.....

If Trump wins the GOP nomination, Clinton wins the election - the establishment GOP will run another candidate 3rd party or writein, and Trump will blow up (not in a good way) in the general election, either deliberately or not. The two remaining humans who don't know who Donald Trump is will be introduced to him. Clinton may or not deliver Trump's payoff for this after the election, but only if Trump has hidden dirt to dump on her (I assume he does here). She'll pay for the omerta.

Otherwise, she'll stiff him and use the DOJ to hound him into irrelevance. This is a real risk for Trump, so I expect this to not be where he's taking this thing.

If Trump loses the nomination - "What do you have to offer that would convince me that it is in my best interest not to run as a third party candidate, after the way you have attacked and slandered me in this campaign?" - Trump to the GOP

He weighs this against the offer he has already pocketed from the Clintons to start this circus in the first place, and either runs or doesn't. Hillary can't deliver what he wants until and unless she is the POTUS, otherwise she's just another loser. At that time, he makes a determination what would be best for the Donald and either cuts a new deal with the GOP, in which case they win and they owe him. If he runs third party (Trump's best option), Clinton wins and Clinton owes him.

Either way, Trump wins. The POTUS will owe him, and Trump, more than any other individual American, will determine the winner in almost every scenario.

And THAT is the "Art of the Deal".

Goodness, thank heavens I do not have a cat.

With all this stuff coming out now about Trump, wonder how Salmond feels. He was very keen a couple of years back to get into bed with him and allowed him to screw up a lot of Scottish families.
 
he is the popcorn king, surely even the yanks and mad enough to vote him in, saying that if he was over here i would vote for him, just to see the establishment squirm.
