I’ll admit that I was initially very much in the Gomes fan club. He had a bit of elegance that I was not used to seeing here.

I’ve learned my lesson now.

West Ham only play with a 2. But that's Rice and Soucek who are arguably in the top midifield partnerships in the league, and are pure athletes

Spot on. A huge case of Gomesitis on here, and it tends to be those with the thinnest skin.

A prudent stance @CharliePotato for I have made several rash judgements in my time.
I ceased doing so during the sixties (Warning; arl git incoming) when three players shaped our destiny for a far too short a period.
One player arrived full of swagger and confidence and determination.
One arrived and initially looked lost and looked as though he wished to be somewhere else.
One was an academy product who was about to change the whole meaning of the number 10 role and needed acceptance.
