You can tell he comes from a background of playing with actual footballers, ones that move off the ball and play quick passes. It's why he shows for the ball show much and also why he goes backwards so often too.

With Ajax, when someone passes backwards it's because they're constantly finding space, when we play backwards it's because our players are terrified of the ball and don't know what to do with it. He must feel like he's playing another sport here.

It’s not his fight.

We get relegated he just goes back to OT and gets a loan somewhere else.

He won’t risk getting a serious, even career threatening, injury fighting for Everton’s life.

If we had someone else I could nominate to play in that midfield three I would suggest don’t play him again in this relegation dogfight.

Because in a team of guys who don’t seem to care much, he has less to care about than the rest of them.

Another one who needs to turn up when it matters tomorrow night. The time for excuses is over. He knew what he was joining. He needs to impose himself and prove his worth. We can make our minds up about players like him tomorrow night. When the going gets tough...and all that. Easy play well in a good side going forward. That's what sunshine boys do. We need real players now - the guys who do it when it is not easy, when it's hard, when things are going against us. This game tomorrow will tell a tale.

Someone correctly pointed out that when he was showing for the ball our defender weren't brave enough to play through the lines so the ball was going out to the full back and back to the keeper. I think Branthwaite would be braver on the ball than both Godfrey and Holgate. Something small in detail could get us back on track.

Give me an old fashioned all rounder any day. Still think DVB can be a good player but you have to realise how badly shot the confidence of his new team mates is.

I'd like to be more generous and put it down to shock that he actually put in a good performance. Which it was.

But like Iwobi, he's put in one good showing and shown what he's capable of, but reverted to type.

Which is the crux of our problem - our squad aren't capable of sustaining the levels required consistently.

This is the problem. None of them are capable of taking responsibility. Never mind the ability, they don't even have the personality.

I think we've got quite a few players that would do alright blending into a team playing well but they're incapable of providing that spark themselves.
