drastic measures

Fwiw iirc someone posted on here a while ago that the board budgets each year for a top ten finish in the league, and any prize money from finishing higher than that is a bonus. Presumably they do similarly for cups/europa etc so i wouldnt imagine it would necessitate us selling, merely mean we have even less to spend than usual! Last year we actually made a profit before transfer dealings i believe?

i can't be arsed to explain to numpty's who can't read posts clearly.
and won't be going down this line with you again.

so happy easter and good night

No need to act like that. I was just saying that we won't need to sell if we don't qualify for Europe. Then you brought us borrowing money against projected ticket sales and TV money. I said that I'm sure we don't borrow money against what we may make out of competitions we may not even qualify for, so I don't understand your point that's all. Don't know why you have to act all childish about it.

i apologise but numpty's annoy me when they just want to argue for arguing sakes.

I actually wasn't. I really was trying to understand your point but it didn't make sense. That's twice you've called me a numpty now.

okay i apologise the second one was more of a general one.

the point is simply put.
the club will have borrowed money on expected sales of season tickets and tv money.
these figures will have been estimated (obviously) on certain criteria
i.e decent cup runs and tv games.

if we don't qualify for europe there will be less revenue via both mediums and cuts will have to be made so things like pienaars contract will be re-evaluted to suit.

hope that clears things up
and sorry once again(y)

As a new blue I have to ask a question. Is there a cap on ambition in this club? Do we play to survive in the top 10? Do we play to not get relegated? Do we want to be a top 4 club?

I ask these things because it seems money dictates ambition yet creates dept. Would you rather own Arsenal now or Man United? I don't know.

I don't even know if my post is on topic but I'm drunk and I'm a yank so a certain level of belligerence should be tolerated.

I suppose it will depend on what Pienaar will be asking for. Moyes himself is the highest earner (or he was last I checked) so anything above that will be out of the question. I'm sure that European qualification is treated as a bonus financially so I don't think it'll make all that much difference. Don't forget we had very brief runs in Europe in 05/06 and 08/09 and we managed ok. There was only 07/08 when we reached the last 16 in Europe so I'm sure it won't be a major factor. Obviously we won't have much to spend, we never do.

Has Pienaar ever said he wants to stay? Money talks as it did with Lescott. An offer from a so-called bigger club to double his money or significantly improve his wedge would persude him to leave imo.

he's always said he is happy here but has also said he would like to play in spain and in cl before end of career won't get either here unless we draw a spanish team in the next round this year

The grass isn't always greener though. I bet Gravesen wishes he stayed with us a few years ago.
