Drenthe ..sacked ?

I also agree with you there Bill. The timing was awful, and poorly handled by all.

It's a tricky one and something I'd be glad not to be handling alright!

...and I get the idea that if he repeatedly broke the rules, then he had to be disciplined. But let's get real here. If it was repeated, I think I'd have waited a day and then kicked him to the curb.

The day before the FA Cup Semi Final against your arch rivals?

The more I think about it, the more whacked that decision becomes.

Yeah, it's defo Moyes's attitude that's taken hold here and had a part to play too.

Also though, the day before the semi final against your arch rivals, to take your words, Drenthe has shown a terrible lack of respect.

He should have been dropped weeks ago then.

I agree with everyone that you can't allow players like that unsettle a squad or disrupt preparations but since this apparently has been an ongoing issue, it should have been dealt with well before Friday.

Like Carsley said, "...no Big Time Charlies."

I still agree with that to this day. That isn't Everton.

But geez Moyes !!! You couldn't take care of that today or weeks back?

Yep, true.

"Ok, then why wasn't he dropped awhile back rather than on the eve of arguably our most important match in years? That's what upsets me the most."

He was. Several times. He was given compassionate leave, where most people wouldn't have been given such leeway. He only came back into the squad from that 1 week ago. He was cut plenty of slack by the club and Moyes. At this stage he is probably on his final warning regarding his behaviour. He then fcuks up AGAIN, a day or 2 before our most important game for many years, letting the other players and everyone else down, thereby disrupting team spirit. As a result he is dropped. What part of that do you not get ?

Compassionate Leave doesn't equal "Disciplined by Club."

It is what it says it is. If it was discipline, then why call it "compassionate leave." That just deceptive.

So now I've got to determine the real motives behind a club when they send a player off for compassionate leave?

I've heard it all now.

Like I said, Moyes should have had him available for the match. He didn't. BOTH are to blame here.

They were cutting him some slack FFS. Benefit of the doubt RR and all that. Now, come back and get yourself ready for the semi lad. Did he fcuk.

I think its quite clear the whole compasionate leave was a smoke screen for a playet who was clearly playing the bad boy long before the semi. He missed several games probably in the hope he would get his **** together. He hasnt done... Coz hes a bad egg!!

From where i stand moyes looks to have given him every chance to make the semi. But there is a point of enough is enough.. The guys taking the piss.

Has he actually been sacked then? As in left the club or is he on compasionate leave( wink wink) again?

What is Drenthe's problem? Moyes gave Drenthe a chance to shine after messing up at Real Madrid and in return Drenthe screws over the team and the fans before the semi final!? I trust Moyes on this decision.

I don't get why so many are blaming anyone other than Drethe here.

Royston was presumably warned that anymore [Poor language removed] ups and he would be disciplined. He didn't take note.

In an ideal world he would have been on the bench. He wasn't and for me it was the right call.

No one is bigger than the club no matter what the occassion.

I also think if it was just a punishment he would of been on the bench.

Thinking about it i think its a decision of the guys never gonna play for the club again. So based on that you wouldnt play him in the semi.

THIS.

We lost the semi not because Royston wasn't in the team, we just weren't up to it on the day. Simples.

Nobody is bigger than the Club.

And who could deny giving a young player who we actually *own* a chance to make himself a hero.

In all honesty, he didn't "shift" it to Moyes.

It was already on him.

Big mistake by Moyes.

But he's running a tight ship. Yay !!!

REALLY NOT A BIG MISTAKE Moyes

DK WAS TRYING TO BLAME MOYES .

He ALWAYS Blames Moyes Or BK !!!

ts NEITHERS Fault . Its Drenthe's ..
