Duncan Ferguson got a job

It was quite bizzare how that win against Chelsea and cuddling ball boys twisted people's minds into thinking he could be a PL manager.

If he survives the 2nd leg of the final, he'll take Inverness CT to lower mid again next season and that will be that.

(If he gets beat and they get relegated he's done there and then, obvs)

Forest Green and Inverness Caledonian Thistle cratered...Real Madrid next isn't it?

I think FGR were in freefall when he took over and that’s continued after he’s left as they tumbled to non-league . ICT were , I think , rock bottom and a couple of wins for safety plus I’m not sure they’ve paid money for a transfer since I was a lad .

My point given the car crash clubs he finds himself at you I suppose you can see why some thought he was suitable for us ! The choice of clubs seems to be as much as issue as his managerial ability but his failure to lead either of these clubs to any kind of success probably doesn’t massively reflect on his ability as a manager as it could had he gone to other clubs .

It certainly seems Duncan is clearly not up to the job of managing a club of our size , even given our current travails, and with him at the helm it would have been difficult to see us escaping from situations that have arisen time after time here . However like Dave Watson before him , he was called on more than once and turned up to help out the club . I find it hard to revel in the misfortunes of those whose first response is to try and help the club I love .

There's no reveling in his misfortune here.

Just confirmation of suspicions that despite that win over Chelsea his football was alehouse and one dimensional. (Both stints) His tactical flexibility makes Dyche look like a visionary.

The clubs he's been handed the chance at have been in weak positions and he's clearly tried his best at both, but one has to wonder why those clubs were the ones who came up with the offers and not a more attractive project?

Genuinely wouldn't be surprised to see him on the team with Snodin/Stewart in a year or two giving stadium tours and pressing palms on matchday.

It's good, honest work.

What, as in he seized on the chance to try and get a short cut into PL management...and he deserves credit for that?

Pffft!

Extremely harsh to attribute any blame whatsoever to him for what is and has been going on at Forest Green. Just shows you up for the blatant hatred for the man, why is that again?

For what it's worth, before you say something about advocating him for the Everton job, etc. I love the guy, however, my opinion on whether he will make a good manager is that it is still an open question, but probably erring on the side of no.. No idea on the situation at Inverness, but Forest Green's owner is solely responsible for their demise.

Just for a bit of balance here, he came into Forest Green at the back end of January, so only had the players there to work with, was never going to work as the club was going down, regardless. As has been shown this season, they are a dying club.

His record in Scotland seems actually meh to OK (dependent on the actual situation at the club, came in with 1 point after 6 games, if my maths is right there), on the basics of it. Too many draws, but that is just an outsider view, for example I have no idea how many of those draws were good draws or they were unlucky not to get all 3 points.

Yes, he should get praise for standing up and doing a job that urgently needed doing. I am not saying give him a knighthood but what he did should not be denigrated so much. You obviously have another agenda here.

Despite not liking people for outside things, it takes a bigger person to say when that person did OK at something.

Plastic pitch gives Hamilton an advantage at home. Second leg is on the grass and he'll fancy them to overturn the deficit.
Dont think plastic pitches gives home teams that much of an advantage tbh. Okay the home team is used to playing on it every other week but Queen's Park won twice in the championship and drew one in the cup away on Hamilton's plastic pitch last season, 2 wins last season and 1 win this season away in the championship on Raith Rovers plastic pitch, 2 draws this season in the championship away on Airdrie's plus over the past 3/4 years when in Leagues 1 & 2 won on Falkirk's, Montrose's, Cove Rangers', Alloa's, Peterhead's, Annan's, QoS, Clyde, Stenhousemuir.

They are all used to training on them anyway. Lots of Scottish teams have them even in the top flight.

Managerial record thus far:

15 wins in 59 games...one win in the top flight.

I think the jury's in, tbh.
