Duncan Ferguson - The Coach

For Duncan these games are all free hits. We are expected to lose, so he can set us up using an underdog approach.

it would be games against the mid to lower team that will actually be the more challenging for him, as he would be expected to get results. He would be expected to actually press for the results and be the team on top. OGS proves this is not always as easy as the “harder” games.

It’s a funny old game, but that is the way I see it.

so you’re saying we should give him a spell that covers us playing ‘lesser’ teams to see how he fairs?

agreed.

He's a dinosuar mate.

That was worse than Moyes yesterday.

Agricultural is a word that cant convey what that looked like. Embarrasing.

A load of our players rushing toward the ball in clusters of 6 and 7 like schoolkids footy. The "manager" with his shirt on in pissing down conditions to show how much "he cares".

It's like we're Cleethorpes United.

United drew level and he shat it: confused he throws another attacker on to repalce a MF, to see out a draw.

He's a crackpot caveman.

That’s rich coming from somebody who thought Martinez was the Messiah.

No Dave. Getting spanked by the RS is embarrassing. Going on a barren run of terrible performances and hearing the manager describe them as phenomenal is embarrassing. Losing at home to Norwich is embarrassing. Getting involved in a long drawn saga over a mediocre manager with a relegation and a few wins at Watford on his CV is embarrassing. Having to get shut of that manager after he downs tools in exactly the same way he did at Watford is embarrassing.

Executing a gameplan that depends on organisation and playing to your strengths when the team is missing a large number of players does not fall into the category of embarrassing.

I don't think Ferguson would be a wise choice long term but you're just on the attack because you've previously decided he's of no use in any worthwhile capacity despite having zero knowledge of what his role is or ever was at Finch Farm.

To give an ounce of credit would go against the narrative you've already decided upon and as such you will always stick to your guns regardless of actual events.

And depending on the fabric of the jacket it's entirely sensible to keep it out of the rain :)

I tell you what, playing under Wally Smith certainly seems to have taught him how to use every single defender we have.

Like the football or not, he's managed to grind out 4 invaluable points which we would not have got under Silva. I'd prefer a more senior long term managerial appointment though.

Do agree, I thought we were fairly well organised defensively, and while we are counter attacking 4-4-2 is okay, but games where we are going to have more possession we may struggle as we aren't set up to break down defensive teams.
Well that 4-2-3-1 garbage that Silva was serving him and his predecessors saw us always struggle to score any goals. We’ve struggled to break defensive teams down for years. I’d say with two up front the last two games, we’ve looked far more threatening in the opposing area. Also, you are making an assumption he’d play the same way. This outdated statement makes me laugh, formations go full circle. Everyone will be 4-4-2 again in next few years

It appears everyone wanted him to play an expansive, modern 4-1-3-2 against Chelsea and Man U, get absolutely spanked in both games, but at least he shows a willingness to be in touch with the modern game and it may serve him well against lesser teams. The stuff on here is laughable. Are there any other forums???

He's done a good job getting through these games but as you say we can not carry on with this long term.

Fans genuinely wanting a bloke who in his own words doesn't want it due to inexperience terrifies me.

Its like the idiots who wanted Unsworth to have it because the under 23's won their league.

Thankfully Brands as DOF means we wont be appointing Dunc or someone like Moyes imo.
Imagine having a manager who runs round on a lap of honour after picking up a point at OT?

"It's just Everton's 6th draw at Old Trafford for 30 years!!!!".

FFS.

No mate, this is the only Everton forum worth using on the whole internet.

We've spnt 5 years trying to get away from hoofball and some want to resurrect it because they want to indulge their nostalgia trip.

That's the danger here.

pleased to see this guy do well in the evertons hour of need. in the interest of transparency and us all wanting to be improve and be our best versions for grandoldteam.com let us look at who poison us from within :

thank u all buddies for the apology in advance and ur showing of humility.
I don't a think it's poison to say that Ferguson should not get the job. Been coach with the last 4 managers and we know how that ended.
Good start for Duncan. Nothing would please me more than for Dunc to do well. Wether he is ready now I'm not sure but if he keeps doing well why not.
What is good for me is to see someone as passionate about Everton as we all our on here. That's what I hated about Koeman and Silva. At least Martinez got it but his teams couldn't defend
