Duncan Ferguson - The Coach

Reviewing Dunc’s stint, I am made up with the results and made up for him. He’s a young coach but he accepted that and took the club back to basics and passion helped us through (although today was a bit of a let down on that front).

Overall, I’d give it 7/10 as I would have been happy with 5 points.

I think some of his subs were a bit off like bringing Tosun on today and taking Kean off last week.

I agree 100% with taking Tosun off today but don’t think Kean should have been subbed last week.

I am hoping that Carlo saw enough today to make decisions on a few players. Tosun, siggy and Michael Keane showed today exactly why they are not the future of this club, hopefully Carlo saw that and let Moshiri next to him realise it needs sorting ASAP

It is but thats Evertons problem in a nut shell - 8th place in the table is pretty good going - but dont we want more than that?

Arsenal were there for the taking today and we shown them way too much respect / reverted to Silva futbol and it didnt work and ultimately cost us 2 points.

Likewise we gave Leicester way too much respect first half on wednesday and gifted them 2 goals.

Yes he's inexperienced which is why surely he should have just kept with what went so well at Chelsea especially with the GP crowd behind him?

Everton have flattered to deceive enough time’s with good teams that we don’t also need to beat them up when they do alright with poor teams. If love us to have steamrolled Chelsea United and Arsenal but simply these players are not good enough. Arsenal were playing for a new manager also and have better players all over the pitch than us. They would have thought we were there for the taking. Leicester are miles better than us currently too. We can’t just throw out line ups that include Coleman Keane Baines Davies Schneiderlin Siggurdson DCL and expect to maul top 6 teams. Half that lot wouldn’t stand out in the championship.

Ancelotti and Brands need to get us to the point where we have a squad of 22 players all too 6 standard, then lo and behold we might actually get into the top 6 again. At the moment we’re demanding that despite half the squad being complete trash.

The problem is that Moyes was actually a very good manager for us (denied by a large part of the fan base) who had some players such as Arteta Pienaar, Lescott, peak Baines, peak Jagielka, Yakubu, Cahill who could walk into other teams in the top 6 easily (most of them underrated by Everton fans) and so delivered top 6 regularly. Because of the ridiculous revisionism of the fans now to paint a picture that Moyes was a clogger with clogger players, there seems to be an assumption now that any collection of rubbish players managed by any bloke should be able to batter top teams home and away as long as they ‘have a go’.

None of the last three teams in the league were there for the taking. Ferguson did well to get us 5 points and for more out of a poor group of players than Silva has done at any point this season.

Yep, I agree with taking him off but we all thought bringing Bernard on and moving Davies inside to cm would have been more logical, obviously the manager has his reasons, but would have liked a more attacking sub. Easily the worst arsenal side I’ve seen at Goodison.
Yeah wouldn't disagree with any of that mate

This is one of the best posts that I have ever read on here mate (on this subject or any other one).
Totally in agreement with you.

Think hes done a fantastic job, very grateful for what we have achieved in terms of finding stability and steadying the ship. However, have seen a few week points, and am glad we are moving forward under a new manager. Hopefully a few more years and a bit more learning and he can be relied upon more long-term.

Compare his set up / performances from the Chelsea & Utd games (before any new manager was in the frame)

To that of the performances/mindset/set up of Leicester and today.

For me soon as Ancelotti was in the frame and not another loser that was guaranteed to keep him on as part of the backroom staff I think he's flapped and tried playing it safe.

I didn't want him to be the full time manager but the results were fine that's that matters

Didn't bring Bernard on when the game was crying out for a bit of creativity. Subbed his own sub against Chelsea and did it again today! Smacks of someone who doesn't know what he's doing. Should be moved on just like all the other ex-players who are leaching a living out of us.

A big 'Well Done' to Big Dunc. I've never really been that keen on the guy to be honest, but I've grown to like him over the last few weeks.

In November I said that this month could turn out to be the 'December of Death' for us, and had us down to completely crumble and pick up no points at all. To be honest, had Marco Silva still been in charge I think that would have been the case. So personally I'm really happy to have picked up five points from the Chelsea, Man Utd, and Arsenal games.

Duncan Ferguson came in and got the lads to raise their game (which is something no manager should have to do with professional footballers IMHO), got the fans bouncing again, and left us in a decent enough place for the new man to move us further out of danger prior to bringing in a couple of new players in January.

Now I'm looking forward to the Carlo Ancelotti reign... let's hope it brings some silverware.
