Duncan Ferguson - The Coach

My hero growing up. Still got the Echo when he was sold behind our backs to Newcastle and was also at that game. If nothing else he is Everton and that should be enough to get this shower to at least try against Chelsea. F'kin at them, Blues!!

Clip his Stirling working class accent to a European English one, stick goaty growth, nice tailored trousers and tank top, knockers would be fawning over Dougi Ferg.

I wish him all the best, and very happy for him. One of our own :)

Duncan should be given a chance as our future coach if he does well.

Sure he is

Well he's worked to get all of his badges, with the shadow of bankrupcy over him, and is fully qualifed to coach in the Premier League. He admitted himself he's a coach and not a 'manager'. I think Duncan will get an incredible reception today and I hope the team responds to his honest aggressiveness.

...probably already pointed out by posters much brighter than me, but noticed John Ebbrell joining Ferguson in training yesterday. I presume a Ebbrell is Assistant Manager today.

Some people are making way to much of Big Dunc being manager. He's here for today's match, maybe next week at a push and probably nothing else. Is it really worth having a go at the guy or moaning about such a short term thing?

Personally I don't think much of him as a coach and I think we need to have a serious discussion about if he should stay on after the new manager arrives.

However, unlike the other idiots we've had for managers in recent years (along with 99% of our players during that time) I don't doubt that Big Dunc actually cares about this club. That goes a long way for me. I just hope some of his passion for the club makes the rats on the field actually try.

If Dunc can't get a tune out of the goodison crowd and players then all is lost, the biggest game in a long time at goodison.

He hasn't had the bollox to go out and get a manager's job. Fellow cone layers Weir and Stubbs did. They deserve respect, at least.

I sense that this is you in mischievious mood Dave. I agree with you on quite a few topics when you're being reasonable but the above comment elsewhere would be considered to be nothing more than click bait. The reason Duncan has never moved is that he loves Everton. He considers himself honoured and lucky to be working at the club he loves. That may be simplistic, but I suspect that Dunc is in many ways a simple, uncomplicated person. Years ago at the time of the cold war and the nuclear threat, big companies used to have extensive drills practising their reaction to a nuclear attack. One person was always given the job of acting like he'd been effected by radioactivity ,had lost his head, and went round deliberately doing whatever he could to upset the status quo. Sometimes,David, you remind me of that person. Weir has earned respect, but wasn't 'Stubbsy' involved on 'the wrong side' during the Rooney transfer? Wasn't he working for Stretford?

Hope we win today for the big man.

Gutted I couldn't be there today, out somewhere else that can't be rearranged.

But as a blue growing up with Ferguson as my hero, it's a special thing to have him manage today no matter the result.
